Anyone else think a sink in the middle of the room would actually be genius?

Here are a few master studies I did from artists I like and admire. Ranges from apparently scribbled lines with Heinrich Kley and Paschalis Dougalis creating dynamism to the total absence of line with Berthe Morisot’s. I also found interesting the use of coloured paper to play with shadow and highlight lines enabling focus but also volume rendering

Awesome and so detailed. This is truly a study. Makes me think I'll need to start putting more thought like you did on future studies.

I did a master study on Glen Keane. I love the energy of his lines and the simplicity of his shapes. A few strokes and he has a dynamic hand or expressive eyes....really tells a story. I plan on doing some more studies of his. (Does anyone have an amazing recommendation for a charcoal pencil? The ones I have are either too hard or to soft...I struggled with it on some of these drawings)

I decided to do a masters study on the skulls by Jeff Watts and another study on Patrick J Jones. I love the variety of lines in both works. I was drawn to Patrick Jones’ work as he has a classical sci fi style with an emphasis on gesture. His style is also visibly influenced by another artist I admire, Frank Frazetta. I tried my best to ignore his use of tone while still maintaining the “feel” of his art.

Tried to highlight the rhino's mass and horn in the first image. On the second I went really heavy on the shadow side

#3 wanted to work on figure drawing and clothing/folds today. Been using these daily sessions to force myself to work on my weaknesses. Folds are a big one.

A bit late starting on Day 1. Will add a few drawings over the weekend to catch up. I wanted to draw an animal since that is a huge weakness of mine. Also wanted to focus on using CSI lines like in our other assignment since I also feel gesture and line quality are also weaknesses of mine.

My submissions for level 1 and 2. It was difficult to to just use CSI curves and break my "scratchy lines" habit. Hopefully I can improve my line quality on my second attempt..

Here are my submissions, level 1 and 2. Used to draw a lot as a kid but stopped in my teens. Then 15 years later I started learning to draw seriously. Now 4 years and 2 proko classes later I'm here. This was the perfect assignment for me as I struggle simplifying shapes and values. Always heard never skip the fundamentals.

So excited about this new course. My issues have always been a lack of understanding the fundamentals. Also glad I caught this course while it's starting as it gives me external deadlines and forces me to get over the fear of showing my work. Anyways here's a pear. I'll also be doing the portrait assignment soon.
