I think with regards to the first image.. you have to chop off the circle from sides through ellipse and the end result should not look like a perfect circle (when facing front.. ) basically chopping of the perfect circular arc from sides of circle. I attached an image.. might help. I hope this helps

practised the loomis heads method from various angles and drew two features based off these structures. Any Critique and feedback would be much appreciated. I also am having trouble with how to go about the jawline especially when looking upwards and drawing the plain surface below the chin.

Hey Achintya, I looks like you have a good grasp of the form when it's in curves but had a hard time figuring out the perspective when you wanted to box it up. The cross bars on the ellipse is one thing you can cue in on. Also, the parallel lines that make up the brow, nose and chin can help you find the box. Boxes are useful. I sometimes find it easier to draw a box shape for the head first--especially if it's in an extreme angle. Once that's figured out, I can place the Loomis method inside of it and get the angle I want. You're right to spend time figuring this out. It's super-helpful in solving drawing problems.

These look really good. I am struggling with the exact same thing and know from my experience that if I am not confident about how to draw a box to represent the head angle I am about to attempt then I will likely mess up the Loomis head also... so if I were you I'd practice boxes in perspective/ learn more about boxes in perspective (from Drawbox for example). Incorporate boxes to a warm up routine and don't just grind out a huge amount in one go, get bored and never do them again. 15 -30 min a day is helping me and doesn't get boring. Aside from that I think they look really good and won't take long for you to see great progress. Keep it up.

great work! you're definitely on the right track, I would advise you to do a lot of lay-ins first using both Loomis and Reilly method this will make your basic sketches look more 3D, leave the features for later, ill give you a quick example first put the reference in the middle, duplicate that layer and put it on the side, do a basic tracing of rhythm lines this will let you know where your lines are exactly supposed to be then do it freehand, and while drawing make sure to compare your drawing to the tracing you can also do lines from the forehead and nose/mouth on a separate layer and turn it on and off to see if you got the proportions right . I've learned all of this from Angel Ganev highly recommend watching all his YouTube videos download his brushes and reference pack and start doing the exercise you'll notice a lot of improvement! remember don't focus on the features the purpose of this exercise is to make your sketch look 3D and have clean lines don't rush it it takes some time.. and most importantly have fun!
