https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBv4DWq0NgM&t=4s What colors do I add next to the limited Zorn Palette... Most figure and portrait painters out there know of or use the Zorn palette, Yellow Ochre, Cad Red, and Ivory Black, but which colors should you add to your palette next, which colors pair with the Zorn palette? Here I’ve made a lesson explaining which colors I believe work the most cohesively and what they look like on a color chart. I hope you like it! The end vid got cut a bit but all I said was that it’s a very utilitarian palette. The three additional colors are UltraMarine Blue Deep (Rembrandt) Cad Yellow, and Quinacridone Violet ( Utrecht ) ^_^ www.aaronwesterberg.com IG @westerberg
This is a close up of a larger painting, here you can see the individual "Tiles" of color I used. This is the technique I prefer in oil painting, the opposite would be glazing. I like this way of painting because I like to the color and shape of each stoke, it allows for a more more color and more variation to the subject. Everything isn't blended away. This is the method I teach in my oil painting course offered here on my page.
