I have loved art my whole life and am now on a journey to learn fundamentals that I‘ve been missing!
Moonfey
Hello everyone! :D It says in the lessons note page that “The challenge will be judged as a whole, so winners will be chosen from all entries, regardless of the design prompt selected”. Could someone maybe explain this a bit more? Does this mean that there are different design prompts to choose from and not just ‘demon prince’? Monstober sounds intresing! I don’t really know anything about it though, I tried to google it but mostly found links to the Disney channel and other things that didn’t appear to have anything to do with this kind of monstober. Does anyone else know anything more about it or have a link to it or something? I think this will be fun and I’m looking forward to see what everyone creates! :D

Hi everyone! This is who I created for the reference bash. She is called The Listener to Secrets. She is a being of the ethereal plane, who listens to the stories and whispers of those small creatures that moves unnoticed amongst other greater entities. Softly singing in her ear is (a bird seahorse), a spirit of both air and water. The force shining from her back makes her float and she uses her jellyfishlike tendrils to move and swim through the aether. The other references I have used are a leaf for her torso and the mushrooms growing as her hair. Thank you for this very intresting and fun challenge! Good Luck to everyone! :D

This deadline seems a little tight. Normally we get 2 weeks, this time it's just 5 days

The shorter amount of time is probably because we are only doing sketches this time and not finished drawings and paintings. :)

Marshall opens Stan's mind. Alternative title: "Dammit Marshall!" Inspired by Marshall's hawk-like direct gaze to camera when he explains a point and his owlish wisdom, he had to be a bird of prey. Polychromos pencil on paper for the morphs, then into Photoshop for some extra drawing and general digital tomfoolery.

I really like the theme in this picture, the hand of the blue fairy, that poor ‘Procchio’ kangaroo and Marshall really is the perfect Jimini Cricket! And so many great details in the background to, like the broken guest cigarette, pin up skelly and those book titles! I looove this! :D

I discovered this challenge while binge watching the first season of the Draftsman podcast. There was no better choice than to continue listening into the second season while creating the speakers into animals. I had a few ideas, yet when Rafiki came to mind, I knew that he was the perfect candidate for Marshall. In my mind's eye, I could see Marshall holding up Stan off the cliff with Scar in the background, matching the intensity of Ethan's persona. When I connected his eye brow scar to the cartoon... Well, I couldn't resist. - Anthony @whenanthonywas

Dear Community, let me introduce you to a wild species unique to Southern California. He rises tall and gazes on the horizon, foreshadowing the future of arts and education, eyeing for talent and goodwill. He is a highly cooperative creature, always ready to stand up for students in need. I mean, look at that ear shape, that cheekbone, that playful spark in the eyes, that noble posture... No doubt, it must be him — Meershall, the High Meerkat of Arts. Oh and hi, I'm Lex from Ukraine, and this is my first challenge submission Ever™. The illustration is quarter imperial, so slightly under A3 in size. I did lots of sketches, a preliminary drawing, and then the final piece. I love watercolor, Marshall loves watercolor, so it all made sense to me. I had a blast making it, so I hope Ethan and the community have fun viewing it, too!

Hi jdn. I’m so very sorry to read about your troubles. I noticed it been awhile since you wrote this so hopefully you might have gotten a bit better since then. I’ve read about some artist that learned to use their left hand then they could not use the right one any more. You might not be able to draw as well with the left but at least you might be able to draw something, better then nothing at least :) I have very dry eyes and use eye drops at times, maybe it might be helpful to you to depending on your specific eye problems. I like both of the pictures you’ve made! :D I didn’t know who Todd Howard was, but then I looked it up, I can see that you really captured his likeness! And the picture you did from your imagination looks great too, reminds me of surrealist art! I think you have a very interesting personal style and a creative mind! :D I really I hope you will get better and find a way to be creative in a way that doesn’t hurt you.

Asked for help
Hi everyone! :D This is my first time submitting an assignment. I have done the lesson itself before though, but then life got in the way and time flew away. With the new Proko 2:0 and all this great community it seemed like a great time to start this again and do it more properly. :) The smaller more stick figury gestures I drew while I watched a ballet video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE5LDPx3XUg That was relaxing and enjoyable and I just paused at interesting poses, and drew those gestures. The people in the video are rather small and I think that helped me to not focus to much on all the detail of the bodies. The refrence pictures for the longer gesture drawing, are from Adorkastock: https://www.deviantart.com/adorkastock A couple of the refrence photos are of more than one person and they were more challenging to do. Does it matter if there are more then one prerson in the photo then doing gesture drawings though? I’ve watched Proko's video on how to hold and control your pencil. So I try to use my shoulder and the over hand grip, but since I’m still not used to it, the lines don’t always appear there I want them to yet. Sometimes I also got a bit nervous knowing that I was going to submit this for other people to see and that unfortunately made my arm tense then I was drawing to. Maybe I just need to continue practice and it will work itself out on it own! :D I think I might have become overwhelmed with everything to keep in mind (the story of the pose, drawing with the shoulders, ghosting the lines and then finding the actual gesture!) and ended up defaulting to drawing the contours sometimes. Even if I at times got stuck in my own head, I still had a lot of fun! I really want to learn and get better, so any feedback or critique would be very much appreciated! :D

Hi! I took a look at your previous gesture drawings and you have really improved since then! Your lines have become much surer and smother now, you have really made great progress! Your gestures look good! The only thing is to remember not to draw the contours. In some cases with the arms and legs you seem to have drawn the bumps of contours more then the gesture. The gesture often cuts through the muscles and bumps of the body. Overall then it comes to the curves of the body be careful not to make them to symmetrical to each other. I saw someone else in a critique describe it with that the gesture flows with curves like this ( ( but the flow stops with symmetrical curves like this ( ) The part in the video there Proko decribes the curve of the shin, also shows what I mean very well and I think that concept works for the arms and thighs to. Almost to the bottom of the lesson notes you can see the picture and text to if you want. it’s under the title “Curve of the Shin” https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/how-to-draw-gesture-step-by-step/notes You are on the right track with your gestures and doing really well! My favorite among them is the one in the bottom right corner. I love the rhythmic motion of the curves going through the hips, shoulders and head, it looks very beautiful! Keep up the good work! :D

The most dramatic thing in my life was birth in the 1950's at 29 weeks, so that is the subject of the movie poster I have designed.

This is a very strong concept and composition, abstract but still with a great deal of story telling! It must have been hard going through, but it came with a very positive outcome I hope! :D Great work and best of luck in the challenge!

OK this is it I'm done now :P This is inspired by the movie posters for 'Loving Vincent', Studio Ghibli films and a bit of Alice in Wonderland. Influenced a bit by the watercolour artist Thomas Schaller. Aiming for a kind of whimsical vibe. I would say I spend most of my time in my imagination than anything else - and trying to paint clouds because they are hard :P Painted with watercolour paint. Please feel free to critique it!

Oh, I Iove the rabbit in the couds, and he’s running on them towards the moon! It’s a like cross of the white rabbit in alice in woderland and the mythical Moon rabbit! I like the composition and how it seams to be both day and night at the same time, it give such a dreamlike whimsicality to it, it’s like the rabbit is running into another world!

Hello everyone, here is my entry for the movie poster challenge.. Lately i`m doing more inked, comiclike stuff with a inky outline. It is a poster for some kind of western movie, containing some things from my life. I don`t like the result as a whole but i like parts of it and i learned a lot. I`m going to do another "movieposter" somewhere soon, and give it another go. I hope you guys like it.

hey everyone this is my entry .... As an artist what I love the most is how much of ourselves we put in everything we create, also anime and graffiti art have made a huge impact on me. So I decided to do a movie about my life around that. A classic adventure anime battle thing.  the premise of my movie is "what will happen if our creations can come to life if someone believes in them". In a world where there are powerful girls call muses, who have the power to bestow life to certain creations that expel a special aura that can only be granted by the artist who cares and have a strong feeling towards it. This power can be easily corrupt, so now the muses are been haunted down to harvest their power but one of these girls called LUNA has found a guardian with a particular type of art and with little self-esteem but with a great heart, that can bring balance to the world and he only needed one person who believes in him.

Hey guys, I wanted to gather sensations, from Blade Runner, Star Wars to even some Gladiator movies. I love the aesthetics of these films, I was also inspired by the bedouins and stories like Lawrence's. I also put representations from the book "The body speaks", by Pierre Weil and Roland Tompakow. From this union we have "Prosperous", a film about who crosses the cement forest that towers over us with an extraordinary force, where we are forced to learn to aim our efforts in favor of something that makes sense to us. "May the short life be prosperous", said our main character. Thanks!
