i made a cover for androcles and the lion because i think lions are cool
Hey Fish,
I like the relief look of your image, it looks like a sculpture from a ruin.
I did a quick sketch over your image to show you what I would do to help with your issues. I notice that you tend to draw the heads too big and the limbs too short. It helps when you do a structural drawing for your pose in order to work out your perspective, that way you can add your clothing and other elements in a way that works with the perspective. I hope this helps :)

I'll remember to do the structural drawing next time. Thanks for the critique.

I need help with arms, torso, legs, basically everything.2yr
I spent way too long trying to fix the anatomy on this piece but things still look off. More specifically Hermes' back and legs (dude with the hat) and Athena's arms and face. If you see anything else wrong with it feel free to tell me. Also what else should I add when asking for help?
Hey Fish,
cool concept. The best way to know how to paint water is to use reference. As far as the perspective is concerned, You need to create a vanishing point on the horizon line for each house. Your composition is also very heavy on the left, and you should balance it out by adding something to the right side. I did a quick, ugly sketch to show you what I'm getting out. Hope this helps :)
The colours look ok, just a bit overall on the cool side and neutral (which is fine as long as there's some more saturated colours in areas you want to highlight). I would definitely brighten up the bug with warm orange/reds and perhaps make the roofs of the houses warmer too.
Compositionally, the house at the lower right sort of feels like it's interrupting the flow from the bugs in the water to the main bug. Try moving it more out of the scene to see the beach, then you can move the bugs more into the scene instead of where they are which feels a bit squished in.
Hope that's helpful, composition is hard and I really like your concept and style here, great work!

How do I fix my environment concept. critique wanted2yr
The parts I am struggling with is perspective, the ocean, color, and composition.
I tried using a rough blender model to use as a guide but ended up just guessing most of the perspective.
I have no clue how to paint water. How does water reflect light, what shapes are created, and how transparency in water works.
The color and composition looks wrong. I dont know why. How do I get the bug in the middle to stand out more?

Hey Fish, these drawings are pretty solid. Proportionally they're definitely correct enough.
What I would say is that you probably should spend awhile just drawing circles, lines, and swaths of tone. So much of traditional art is dexterity based. It can be frustrating switching from digital to traditional, and vice versa because you're losing essentially all of the dexterity you've built with your medium of choice. I'm sure you've heard that advice before, but the longer I draw the more I realize that circles and lines are the holy grail of practice.
Hope this helps!

Looking for hand and pencil drawing advice3yr
I'm a digital artist so I'm not familiar with pencils. What can I do to improve?

holy cow this is a great study, I like how you do the lost shadows on the figure and hard highlights. However, I would suggest you to limit the range of the light family a little bit so it doesn't look too shiny and metallic. While there are a lot of soft edges on the light, I think the core shadows are too hard and graphic, some core shadows on the biceps, the chest and the brachioradial. if you're aiming for the graphic feeling then you can disregard my comment. Hope it helps.

Here is a figure drawing I drew. Any feedback that will help me improve will be appreciated. If you need more info feel free to ask.

The different facial features of the face look fantastic isolated but I think the problem is their placement and porportions. Try not to focus on the small detail until the end. Take a step back to see the whole picture every once in awhile.
Observe the distance between the landmarks of the face. In the last photo reference the width of the closet eye matches the width of the nose (blue line). The height of the nose matches the gap between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin (green line). The top and bottom of the nose aligns with the top and bottom of the ear (red line). This information will vary between people and camera angles so you find to find these things on your own. its useful to loosely memorize the average ratios (just google face porportions)
I also noticed that the chin in the drawing is bowed outwards but the chin in the photo is slightly bowed inwards (pink line).
Study the skulls. Observe how they effect the face. More specifically the structure of the cheek, brow, and chin.
sorry I kinda ignored the other drawings. They look great just pay attention to the structure of the chin.

Hi @Fish. I would strongly recommend diving into the figure drawing fundamentals course. I think the anatomy in your drawing is good, but it´s not built on strong figure drawing.
A few years ago I dreamed of being able to draw Tarzan. The Disney movie had been my favorite since I was a baby. I really wanted to learn anatomy, I found proko´s course, but realized that I was lacking the fundamentals.
It was difficult to realize that, because it felt like my goal of being able to draw Tarzan was miles away, but I decided to take the figure drawing course anyway. I´m so glad I did! It gave me exactly what I wanted!; being able to draw gestural 3-dimensional figures, from imagination. I learned the most important part of drawing Tarzan!
And to my suprise my figures felt quite accurate eventhough I didn´t know anatomy. It was like I had learned the pattern of the human body. I realized that rather than thinking of the figure drawing course being a obstacle in front of the anatomy course, it is more like the Anatomy 1 course.
There´s lots of good stuff going on in your drawing and I think you´ll really appreciate the Figure Drawing Fundamentals course, since it will help you take your drawings to a whole new level!
I hope this help :)

Hey Fish,
Gabriel is correct, your drawing is suffering from proportion issues. What I do is work out my proportions and perspective in a structural drawing first, then go to details. I did a draw over to show you what I mean. I hope this helps :)

What are somethings I could improve or fix in this drawing? More specifically I need to fix something about the torso, but I don't know what. Any criticism of the rendering would also be welcome.
