I cant understand , how is she so energetic and positive , I guess this is one of the qualities that will get you hired. Love your work and your positive energy <3
I missed the stream due to errands, but I'll be watching later today.
Just saw the winners. Congrats everyone!
I'm going to work on my poster more lol, but it's going to dry appropriately this time. :)
I am inspired by Steven Zapata's work tremendously!
My bad, I mean, my focus recently has been in graphite.
I look at the art of Dark Souls etc and how the director asked for some traditional means etc. I jsut wanted Karla & your opinions!
Hey Karla,
I was curious to know: Personally, I've started to stray away from Digital Art and move on towards highly rendered graphite work. Are there certain studios (not necessarily specific) that would deem that kind of medium for concept design acceptable? (I believe that may be a little subjective) I also wanted to know your opinion on the detriment of using traditional mediums used in concept art today.
Hey guys, i just started digital painting about a week ago, and I was wondering what i can improve one, here’s a study i did yesterday, i dunno if this type thing is allowed but i thought I’d give it a shot
Thanks for doing this stream. Curious what you suggest are important for building an portfolio geared towards projects such a for Magic cards.
I have... some qUESTIONS. One: Do you still play Magic the Gathering?
Two: Have you had like extremely traumatising art teacher experience (if u had one)? If so, how did you manage it along with producing work?
Three: What are the questions you ask yourself to create original work ( your own)? Are these questions such that anyone can ask themselves, or a special unique technique to u ( if yes, don't tell ure secret!)
Four: Would u be willing to give an anime reccomendation?
Hi Karla! I've had a huge art crush with you for years now! Thank you Proko for these spaces. I am a Guatemalan artist and I really want to break trough and I was wondering, what could I do to improve my art or to get into the card game industry? I would really love your feedback, here's my gallery on dA:

Hi Karla! :) First of all, I want to thank you for publicly standing up against problems in the art world and the industry. You are one of the few powerful pőositive voices on art social media.
So my question: I love industry-style art, but industry work is not for me, I'm rather an illustrator/fine artist who prefers painting his own ideas. Do you think there is demand for fine art in an industry-like style?
P.s.: I love your work and also how cheerful you are! :)
Hello guys! What are your thoughts on artists "correcting/fixing" other artists art and posting it online? You think that's fair or unethical?
Hey Karla, lovely to have you here :)
I would like to ask about advice on breaking into book cover art or card art (most illustration based jobs) industry. I am not a great designer but I sure do love spending my days painting away some dramatic scenery or figures. As an insider in the illustration game today, do you have any particular advice for an aspiring illustrator you feel like sharing? Best of wishes
Hi Karla,
I really admire your work.
I am a programmer who suddenly decided to learn art at the age of 29. What advice do you have for someone who works full time but still wants to dedicate a bit of it to art?
Best regards,
Cap
Hi Karla,
Thank you for your contribution to Magic! Im a huge fan, so I'm curious how you got your art on cards in the game, via the processes etc. The #1 reason I started playing the game was due to the art. Also, if I send you cards to sign with return postage, would you? And how much would you charge?
THANK YOU!
Hi im 22 and studying animation and fine art.
two questions;
1, how do you set up your scene, i.e. how do you choose where to place objects for balance and lighting, such as the ravens in this videos thumbnail?
2. i Noticed some submissions were not reviewed in your video today, and wanted to ask why some were left out, if it was due to time or something else?
Thanks, Mike Crean
Hello! Thank you for the stream!
Any tips from you both for getting started in working with color?
I have drawn with black and white medias for most of my life and it seems that every time I try starting artwork with colors I just freeze when getting to choose them. And the results just usually seem to turn out very different from the references or base ideas.
Hi Karla! As an aspiring educator, I was wondering what your observations are on how art education is changing. Is the ability to educate achieved after years of industry experience or trained parallel (separately) to working in the industry? Is there a difference between working in an art institution vs. mentoring individually? Also, your puzzle analogy from the THU talk was eye opening and helped me develop as an artist.
