Funny enough, I never liked ballpoint pens - because that is what we had to use in school) so when I graduated I decided that I won’t use it again! Of course quite some time has passed now and all I can say - thanks a lot for bringing it back in such a fun and useful fashion!) very inspiring!
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

In this lesson, I'll show you how I render basic shapes with a 4-color ballpoint pen. I'll explain my smudging technique for creating soft core shadows and gradients without a lot of hatching. You'll see how each color reacts differently to smudging and how to use that to your advantage. I also cover how to pre-wet the paper for thicker lines, control line weight for depth, and apply these concepts to render forms like spheres, cylinders, and boxes.

Sorry, I didn't have any ballpoint pens lying around but I did have a fountain pen (almost have not had any pen for a decade it seems. Just got these recently since deciding to go back to journalling, then just decided I finally wanted to properly learn to draw/sketch). I did the gradients by smudging as I drew before the ink had time to dry up.

you could also use the colorless tombow brush to smudge, use it before or after and it works very similar
