Exaggerating Poses for Expressive Sculptures
LESSON NOTES

For Halloween I wanted to do a spooky quicksculpt and landed on a female zombie. With a wire armature, sculpting tools, foil, and wax-based clay, I create a twisted pose showing zombie movement. Covering the armature with clay, I focus on forms like the rib cage and pelvis. Exaggerating features like a wide-open mouth and skeletal cheeks, I add hair to feminize the figure. This quick study is a fun way to practice anatomy without details. Try it yourself!

I spun the wheel, got "female zombie," and sculpted a quick gesture study focusing on anatomy and pose. It was fun, and I encourage you to try it too!
