Building a Dream Art Studio

Mark as Completed

This year I bought some space next door to the Proko office and turned it into my dream art studio! This vlog is a culmination of all the planning and work that went into building the studio, the Draftsmen set, and the place where I’ll film all my future drawing and painting videos.

Cintiq Review:

A big thank you to Wacom for making this possible and sending me free stuff. I'm seriously loving my new 32-inch Cintiq. The large size and 4K resolution provide more room to work, making split-screen usage and video editing a pleasure. The flex arm is a must for artists, allowing for comfortable screen positioning.

Renovation and Studio Setup

Dream Art Studio Realization: Reflecting on a blog post from 10 years ago about my dream art studio, it's amazing to see how much of it I've achieved, including north light, skylights, high ceilings, and more.

Renovation Process: We've begun renovations, exploring ways to reduce echo without using carpets and planning to film painting parts to show my involvement.

Studio Setup: With the floor painted, I've moved in all my art supplies and furniture. The back wall is planned for art supplies and tools, with a functional and visually appealing layout.

Easel and Palette: Customized my easel and built a palette with a glass surface for easy cleaning and color selection.

Recording Setup: Described the setup for recording painting and drawing, ensuring minimal shadows and clear visibility.

Sound Panels and LED Lights: Acquired sound panels from a church and installed thin LED lights, improving studio acoustics and lighting.

Artwork Decoration: Decorated the studio with artwork from various artists, enhancing the aesthetic appeal.

Creative Experiments

Epoxy Experiment: Attempted to create an epoxy hand sculpture, facing challenges..

UPDATE - “Handy”, the first accidental work of art from the new studio, has been sold.
