Having hard edges everywhere kills the realism of a piece. It makes characters look like plastic toys rather than living subjects. This exercise focuses entirely on fixing that issue. We’re taking a painting composed entirely of hard edges and going through it to soften transitions, create lost edges in the shadows, and guide the viewer's eye to the focal point. It’s a practical way to understand how edge variety changes the entire feel of an image.
