It's been a while since I've created my own artwork rather than copying a reference image as I usually do. The painting I call: Agony Of War. What do you think of it?

Not that my opinion holds much weight but as far as ability and readability, to me, Its flipping amazing. I could not begin to give you any constructive criticism when It comes to creating the art. Nothing for me sticks out in the way of visually "off". I would like to give a bit of feedback that could be of some help, maybe not. I hesitate because you're able to paint human expression that the viewer can feel what they're feeling. which is incredible, however, with complete respect for clearly advanced knowlege and skill when it comes to art and a humble acknowledgement that I don't truly know what kind of expression you're going for, to me the expression she is giving doesn't feel like the agony one would get from war. Perhaps it is agony but not the kind one would get from war. It's almost there.

Hi Kemon, at first I will thank you for your kindly written words. What you wrote about agony is a interesting point and I you have get me to think about this word and his meaning. I feel, that suffer is not strong enough to describe what human population have to bear in a war. So I think agony describe more the suffer of these people. I'm an really curios what your thoughs are?

Great portrait with lots of emotion. The image is a bit blurry. Is that just the resolution or is it intentional? I love the simplicity of the colors and all the values read really well. The expression feels a bit exaggerated. Maybe the eyebrows are to high but I'm not sure. It does get the point across very well. The only anatomical feedback I can give is the sternocleidomastoid muscles from the head to the pit of the neck are a bit over pronounced. I feel that you can put those further back into shadow. Other than that, great portrait! Do more and keep sharing!

Hi Christopher, thank you for your written words and your positve feedback. The blurry effect is a little bit to much, I agree with you on this (I have to experiment a little bit more with the "chromatic aberration" effect I like to achive in my paintings) and yes, the muscle on the neck ( I had to google "sternocleidomastoid muscles" :D) is to bright.
