ShadeForm (Art learning tool)

Hi, I've created this tool that you can use to teach yourself shading. It automatically generates a primitive in the chosen lighting situation with the chosen material (plastic, metal, clay), then gives you the position of the light source to let you train your ability to visualize lighting and then put it down onto a canvas. It gives you grades — overall and in the different sections (core, highlight, etc) — and allows you to analyze how you did. The tool also has a live, automatic improvement graph, and it has a cyclical timer that works like the one on sketchdaily, allowing you to pick the time and get into the rhythm. In the hundred hours I've spent programming and testing this tool, I've definitely improved and I can visualize shading un-shaded objects much better. I'm happy to answer questions if you have any. https://code-flame.itch.io/shadeform

Impressive @vital_ash This would be useful for people. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had more time, I would learn code or whatever is needed to build an android app. The app would connect to the PC as a companion device for digital painting software. It could be used for number of things. The thing that bugs me about Drawing displays is they use a pen stylus but if I want to rotate/zoom or move the canvas I can't just do touch gestures. I'm sure an app on a smart phone (or tablet) could sync up with a digital art program and do just that and more. currently no apps do this.

Interesting, I'll look into the specifics of that idea. It sounds like I'll need a desktop application to communicate with the app across the local network as well as with the painting program. The painting program would need its own custom plugin to communicate with the desktop app and perform the gestures. I'll let you know if this venture bears any fruit.
