Quick sketching from TV

A 5-minute sketch of a scene from "Real Glory" -- an old Gary Cooper movie from 1936. I need to do more of these quick, gestural sketches. They don't get me bogged down in details and I can focus more on general shape and form. It's good practice. Of course, more study is needed :-)

Super idea... It would be even cooler if you gave a time-in-the-movie as well so we can compare the image in the movie to your drawing.

Well, I don't know the exact time mark, but it was about a third of the way in. This was during the dinner party scene with Cooper and David Niven competing for the attention of the new-girl. The grouping of people in this shot just caught my eye :-)

Yes. Does that seem quick? It's not. Try one yourself, they're fun :-) Cheers!

Pretty good, yoy're getting used to the shape of the human head from different angle, though I will say the shading on that guy on the left is sort of off.Like I assume that guy is lit from the front? If so I don't think you indicate the cheek quite well (example of how a side view lit up front, maybe this will help)

Paper, thank you for the compliment and yes, you are right- the shading is off. By their nature, 5 minute sketches will have a brevity of line and shading, yes? My goodness, I barely had time to put down the important lines and add some simple tone. So, I just ran out of time :-) Cheers!
