Well, I just went with my first idea, I usually don´t explore a lot of options before doing a character or a full illustration. But I want to change that since I always wanted to be a character designer and a concept artist and they need to do a lot of sketching and variants before getting to the final design. The challenge was bird warrior, so I searched for different bird references. I thought an eagle or a falcon would be too common to describe as a warrior. I had a few days before the deadline so I wanted to not do something too ornamented. So I choosed a small bird like a humming bird, people see them as friendly and cute, so I thought it would be fun to make the shapes sharper. I wanted the clothes to be simple and I added some poaches for him to keep food and other useful stuff and not just a sword and an axe.
