Humorous self portrait/character design, feedback?

I created this after studying anatomy, foreshortening, form, and how to manipulate them again, while also starting to paint, trying to understand how brushes work, and doing my very best.
I made this self-portrait for a project a humorous, encouraging artwork with a meaning. I had fun with it and learnt a crazy amount, but I’m wondering what you guys think. Any critiques? Improvements? Tips?!
Thank you so much!
How crazy is that? While working on it, my head was so focused on mechanics and angles that only when I ve got a feedback from a fellow artist I started to see that my work wasn’t good. And it was true! It wasn’t good.
I learned a lot, but the composition wasn’t good. I repainted it, rebuilt it, and kept trying to save a sinking ship. I just wanted to finish it, get it done, but it was going nowhere!
I had to start again. I set my alarm for 5 a.m. and started working on it again. Already yesterday, I worked on it as much as I could. I changed it completely, and now I’m starting to feel that I’ve learned a lot about self-criticism, about starting with a rough, messy sketch to find the composition, blocking in the big areas first, and only then refining everything. Getting little bit sense of grip on it and be in control! However I totally suck when it cones down to mastering brushes! Such a lack of knowledge. I just want to paint! Get it done. But yes I know. To know my brushes cost time and its important. Part of work….do you have same?
