Hello Proko land! I decided I wanted to learn to draw all the way back in 2016. Within all that time... I've bounced between dozens of resources but... I never actually took the time to draw or attempt to draw anything that I like... cause you know, I'm not very good.
But figured I'm not getting any younger and might as well start tackling personal projects, even if it relies heavily from reference and create scenes and images that actually interest me.... coincidentally they are things that speak to the 13 year old boy in me, comics, dinosaurs, pro wrestlers and martial artist... what can I say? I'm a simple guy with simple taste.
I would love if you folks can tell me one thing that I did well (that may be hard to do) and one thing that I should focus/work on in my next project (that should be much easier) Thank you for any thoughts or comments.
So Project #1 is creating a quasi comic book cover of Karate Gal, Hitomi, as she strikes a pose in front of her pet T-REX! (Yes, I was serious about being a simpleton)
Started out with a rough... and I mean rough thumbnail, and then kind of went hunting for references. From there I drew it on basic printer paper before blowing it up in Gimp and taping it to the back of 9x12 Marker Paper where I re-penciled it.
I attempted to use the 3d blob effect that I learned from Stan and Marshall for the figure but... still came out really flat. Took the opportunity to play with my variety of dip pens, and brushes, and then attempted to color it in Primsacolor Pencils and Alcohol Markers with semi disastrous results.
Despite not being pleased with the final product... I'm glad I did it! It took a month of me spending a few hours with it every Saturday and Sunday and I'm happy that I saw it through to the end. I'm currently working on another project... featuring mutant dragons and dwarves... only the highest of highest brow art from me, I tell you!
Thank you for any thoughts or constructive criticism. Don't worry about coming off harsh, I'm here for the learning experience.

Great job! I like how you have taken a few pictures and came up with an idea in your mind, putting it into a thumbnail, and then creating a drawing, afterwards inking the drawing, and finishing it off with color! Is it perfect? No. But it still looks great to me! If you stick with improving your art skills, in the future you will have a great idea that you created to come back to, applying the skills that you have worked hard on to improve. Awesome job! Cheers!
