If you're new to colors, I suggest find a colored reference and try to copy what you see first. If you can't copy what you see, you can't possibly invent.

Hey desmond68, The problem I'm seeing in this drawing is that you are using warm colors all over the place. If you look at the reference, the back of the hand is warm, and the other side is cool colors. The green and purple on the back of the hand is warm. But green is cool! Only as it relates to other colors, like the cool gray in the light. I did a quick sketch to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)
