Chess figure drawing challenge

Hi guys! Let me share with you my last studies! I was learning forms, the usual stuff: one-point perspective, two-point perspective, boxes, cylinders. Then I got to contours. I discovered a whole new world! Contours turned out to be such a powerful tool for giving value and form to objects. After perspective, it felt like paradise to me. So I thought, why not practice and create something cool? To understand how contour lines run through objects, I needed a good sense of construction. Chess figures were the perfect challenge to draw. After perspective, now it was time for contours. That’s when I decided: let’s draw some chess pieces! They’re perfect for this, with so much opportunities to learn and control ellipses, to move from round forms to edges, from spheres to trunks and tapering forms, all while staying in control of design and proportions. I found it just amazing. So I’ve started with the pawn and the bishop! Any remarks, having the same experiences? Critic?! I will be happy to hear them! Have a great day

Yeh thats good, thats my favorite piece. the contours look especially good on the head of the first bishop, I'm liking them edges there. With the contours its good to have an intersecting wire frame to complete the 3d. I'm working on something that lets the computer read in contour lines to make real xyz 3d but I've got too many bugs yet to show it properly.

I love your drawings! And your contour lines. I will say though, to make your eclipses more realistic to the form (more 3D) stop pinching your edges. It’s a good ellipse that is very 3d and then suddenly 2d toward the edges because you pinched it. I hope that helps! (I’m bad at explaining sometimes)
