Some ideas for my spiderman. As I am architect, I can imagine a nice city, but I am still not sure about this. what do you think?

Hey @Anibal Lopez Lenci! I like the “inky” aspect of your drawing. I think the pose might be a little bit ambiguous, like “what exactly is he doing: jumping? Falling? Hanging?” Consider precisely what you want the character to be doing and then try your best to draw his gesture and body expression in a way that clearly communicates that action. I also think there might be a bit too much information on the bottom left area of the composition, which makes it even harder to read the character’s pose. One idea I can think of right now would be to bring the horizon line a lot more downward, show much more of the sky and perhaps concentrate the city on the bottom area, while character remains on the upper area looks of the frame - this might help bring more attention to the character and also make his silhouette appear more vividly. Maybe even tilting his overall shape a bit more could help add more movement and dynamism to the scene. Hope this helps!

Hey @Jo Edgehill! Nice work :) But I think the soft shadow rendering conflicts with the stylized design of your character. I did a paintover to design more graphic shadow shapes and also rendered the face more just to show the level of render can vary- it just needs to feel by design. (I'd rather keep it all graphic 2D personally) The reference in the image below are great examples of different render styles that still feel equally cohesive. Thanks for sharing!

First of all , thank you for taking the time to critique my work! I appreciate you putting this reference board together.I hope you don't mind me asking one question: If I want to pursue a career in 2D animation or character design(I still can't decide),should I go for a more simple ,flat type of shading in my artwork? Thank you again for your time! :)

I love how much personality this character has! I would think about the balance of the figure for the next draft. It looks like the character is leaning too far to the right to stay upright. Maybe try more of a bend at the waist to bring the torso over the base of support, or pop the right (anatomical left) leg out to widen the base of support in order to accomodate that lean. Great style, and I hope I get to see the finished piece!

First of all, thank you! I can definitely see where it is unbalanced ,and will try to fix that now. I look forward to your opinion on the finished piece! :) Thank you again!

You've got a cute design. I think you could think of some of the cast shadows that might be on the figure, like by the left collar. I think that region could use a little more shading in general because it feels kind of flat. Here's a paint-over I attempted. This is my first time trying this, so it may not actually be any better. If you're going for more of a cartoony look it can be good to have all your shadows the same value without gradient, whereas I guess I was trying to make it more three dimensional.
