2 Value study

Hi, I have an issue about these two value-group studies. Usually, there are two ways to approach them. The first is the Notan approach, where you contrast objects with dark local colors against those with light local colors. The second is the Chiaroscuro approach—light versus dark. But sometimes it feels impossible to choose just one for a single composition because, for example, in a Chiaroscuro two-value study, the shadow on an object with a light local color can’t be grouped into the dark family, even though it belongs to the shadow family.
