If you were doing a live model would you do study sketches first before moving to color? To study keys, tones and structure..Etc.

Hi Proko, I wanted to ask do you think going to a university to learn art and getting a degree is important? And how do you develop a style or when do you know that it's the right time to move away from the basics of drawing or bend them?!
