I thought I'd draw some robots. The one on the left was my first attempt and the one on the right was a redo. Full disclosure: I used a ruler on the second one as I drew it during my lunch breaks on an A5 sketch book. Not much room on the page and the divisions got very small.

First attempt before watching Demo. Apologies for the numbering being out of sequence on the pictures. I use an A3 sketch book and I can't take a picture of the whole page at once. Also I draw to lightly. Great challenge, I think I'm starting to get the idea but, as always, I will practice more after I watch the demo video!

I had a lot of fun with this assignment. I drew a lounge room with a kind of mid-century vibe (bar, record player etc). The sink is placed so it would end up behind the door when opened. My lines got wobbly when I was drawing the smaller lines or when not 100% confident with the placement of things.

Rhythms Level 1. There is so much stuff to focus on apart from the rhythms themselves! E.g the overhand grip, line quality, shape design, proportions etc. I think things started to come together in the last couple of drawings and I was taking around five minutes for each one. I now make sure I practice drawing rhythm figures each day because, despite the challenges, I find them a lot of fun!

Three pages of seals drawn prior to watching the demo. I'm starting to get the idea of the gesture but need to work more on the shape design- especially the flippers.

My 3rd attempt after the musketeer (image from pexels.com). I'm starting to feel more confident with taking measurements and aligning the shapes. I am still finding that ,despite checking measurements, I end up being off in one or two areas (in this case the chin seems too long).

Just worked out how to do the overlay in PowerPoint (as mentioned in an earlier post on this thread)

The assignment was quite the challenge. I measured, just using the pencil, and I found it difficult to measure small distances, e.g 1/3 or 1/4 of a unit. I suspect that's why I have somehow added extra distance between his left eye and ear!

I remember seeing 'how to draw' articles in magazines when I was a kid. They would attempt to explain how to draw something like a an animal or a superhero. Step one was a few lines, step two was basic shapes and then step three was always the completed drawing. I always used to think that they missed a bit between steps two and three!
Great exercise as always, I'll watch the demo and then do a bit more practice.
I drew along with the video and then did my own little study. So much great content in this video. I learned heaps, as always!

This was my first drawing where I predominately used the overhand grip. I really like the lines that you can draw but I struggled with control. Has anyone got any warmup exercises that they do to make this grip more familiar?

That was a fun assignment, a bit daunting for a level one, but I learned a lot. As always, looking forward to more practice.

Really enjoyed this one. It's amazing to see how the difference in a line can change the emphasis of the whole picture.

My first go at the warmups. Fun exercises and they highlight the areas to improve!

Ok, gotta admit that I found this one tough (but still fun). As I'm still a newbie to drawing, I find myself concentrating on negotiating the shapes and 3d elements and not focusing on drawing a relaxed line. I'll go watch the demo vid and then do some more practice.

Watched the demo and then re-drew both drawings. The concept of the 'place holder' was a massive help as well as how to break the laces down into sections.

These boots were a challenge. I struggled with getting the lines confident and getting the perspective right at the same time. Then I had to draw the laces...

My attempt at a the CSI snail. Second attempt and still need to get the confidence in the lines. Will try the boots next.

Second day of warmups and slowly improving. Thought I'd try some different characters as well.

Well, here it goes...the pear. I'm learning to draw, as an adult, pretty much from zero experience. It was a fun challenge and I am looking forward to the rest of the course!
