Crap. I'm late.. well I only managed to draw the boxes from memory so far, but I am definitely gonna study them as well as the arrows too. Just wanted to make something in time for the critique. Anyway. I didn't use guidelines and reflecting on it, I should have. Note: This is a good warm-up exercise as well for line precision if you add the points with crosses in the middle.

I kept staring at this trying to figure out what was wrong and turns out nothing is wrong, it's just that my mind was expecting all the forward facing planes to be white while in the bottom row it's the top facing planes ;) Nice boxes!

Got a bit carried away although I just lazily scribbled in my name lol. I know the font isn’t perfect because it’s basically my messy handwriting. Didn’t care at all. Just wanted to test out the perspective but ended up with this.. Gonna do some more…

Lvl 2 CSI lines (I kept the skull simple in the beginning, but added some detail later. Got lazy with the spine though don’t mind this mess).

Level 1 CSI project. No feedback needed, just sharing my progress. I wasn’t really motivated to do the shoe details, so there’s just a rough lay-in for the laces.

Level 2 portrait. I separated proportion, plane / perspective and value study. For the main portrait I focused on separating the values instead of simplifying it to the max.

I love everything about this. Even how you laid out the page with your name at the bottom corner.

Level 1 pear :) (photo 3)
Melanie Scearce
Awesome! This is an excellent pear. The shape design of the core shadow really creates that sense of depth and form. I will say that there is a line to walk for this exercise where some shapes can be considered surface texture rather than representing plane changes, and some of the smaller shapes may walk that line. For this exercise in particular, you really wanna focus on just working with the planes, as if the pear was a low poly 3D model made of simple rectangles, and try to simplify any subtle surface textures that you might see.

Level 2 blobs to boxes. I used different references.

Level 1 Blobs to Boxes. Some ended up more like torsos already though. The first one was just for warm up and also used some cylinders.

These are perfect!
