added comment inDemo - Simplify Snail and Boots to CSI
So post-demo, I tried to do a separate contouring exercise with my own photo. This took me way longer than expected. Mostly because it turns out I don't understand horses at ALL.
And this time I tried to adhere much more closely to CSI rules and aim for simplification. It's so difficult to not be distracted by details. Before this course, I always thought the goal was to try to depict absolutely everything you'd see, not to simplify forms. It makes a world of difference, though, to try to keep reminding myself of this now.

Snail and Boots. Spent much more time on the boots, clearly. I slightly adjusted the snail post-demo, but didn't do too much on it. The boots I did not change post-demo. And it shows: the laces don't really make sense, for example. And I think I didn't get the point of the exercise properly. But now I do.
Hi there! Here's my guy. I had limited time and am posting it now after a few hours, which, as Stan mentioned, does help to better see errors. Here are some I can see now:
Proportions:
- forehead and top of head not tall enough
- cross-eyed
- ear too big maybe
- lips too large, undefined
- neck too long
- overly arched eyebrow
Values:
- lightest dark and darkest light a little too close together
- smudging from my hand resting on the paper confuses the values on the right side of the page
- contours too heavy, esp on ear and on the model's left cheekbone (our right side)
- confused values around the lips
Any and all feedback most welcome from anyone in the community! Many thanks in advance.
