Anyways, here's attempt at head. Might do 6th time I don't get how i keep screwing up his head shape
Ian McNeill
The eyes are actually not that bad. Are you thinking of them as forms or shapes? Consider the head itself as a ball and try to visualize the eyes wrapping around the head rather than just sitting on it. Improvement will take time. The eyes are intricate and will take time to understand how they work as a sum of forms rather than a single entity. You will get it. Keep trying!

I see eyes as a form. I draw ball first and fill it until i reach the eye part. My problem is that i never make it match the ref and that it doesn't look realistic to me. Looks cartoonish compared to nose for me. I somehow flatten it every time

Tried some portrait drawing. I saw someone else use this reference already on here so i tried myself. I do not understand why i keep messing up eyes even if i follow the steps or why i dont seem to improve

The lines that David is using are meant to give roundness to the forms, they are not just random lines. In a rendered drawing, those lines would be half tones. The way you drew them actually flattens out the forms. I did a quick sketch to show you what I mean.

alr thank you for help, i really struggle with hatching and im not sure if there is a good recommendation video explaining how to do properlly. I have also noticed by your sketch that you made anatomy more accurate so may i ask how because i think i am doing something wrong.I started with gesture then proportions turned into simple shapes and started constructing detail by straights. Am i using wrong way of construction or is my observation just bad?

Here is my attempt. I can see some flaws myself like bad line art and shitty hatching and anatomy so honestly i think it went horrible. Im looking for more criticism to see what can i do exactly to make it better or other suggestions

What I'm seeing is that your shapes and facial features are all over the place. I would suggest you try using the Loomis method of head design. It will help you line everything up and create the right shape for the face. I did an example to show you what you can do, I hope it helps :)

Hello i have started portrait drawing some time ago I got stuck at this lady and i kept trying to draw her over and over again but it never looks right. I am not sure why every time i try to draw face no matter how accurate i try it looks cartoonish. I also studied skull and drew it before i tackled portrait drawing.
