I ended making the penguin into basically another drawing but apart from that I stayed pretty faithful

That penguin drawing has a lot of style. I like how you used loose searching lines for the vr girl whilst still maintaining a smooth line quality. My only criticism is that I think you should have used lighter searching lines on the hand. What you could have done instead is lightly sketch the direction of where the lines should be pointed to, then going over it with a darker and smoother line.

The penguin was so much fun to draw!

Thanks! I will admit that I had issues getting those searching lines into the drawing. Too much time was spent trying to get the proportions exact.

Here are my 3 submissions for this project. Still a lot of room for improvement…
Funny enough, one of my biggest problem is to stay within the page… in other words, amongst other things, judging proportion is still very challenging for me.

What I do to help me with proportions is to lay out a line before drawing anything and dividing it into fourths, then laying out which parts of the drawing will be placed in the specific part of the line.

I’m not exactly sure I implemented csi lines for the skeleton correctly but nonetheless I learned from doing this project, particularly in regards to proportions and line quality.

Few attempts. This is before watching the demo. I realise I am super afraid of going darker in value. Hair is difficult as always. This is the second pear I drew, the first one was just hurting my eyes 😂. Please critic this. Have joined this platform few days back, eager to be part of a community here!

The drawings are good but you were supposed to simplify the shading into 5 values. Here you blended the values. Great job on the proportions for the portrait and the shading on the pear though!

My simplified pear wasn’t quite as simple to make…..
