I wonder why Stan hasn’t talked about using the overhand grip on the pencil? I resisted using it for years but now find I sketch much better and looser since I adopted it.

Did anyone try the “overhand” pencil grip? I did and it seems easier to control the pressure. Just wondering.

I’m curious why Stan did not use the Loomis method to map out the features of the face he completed in this video. Should I use this method or just go straight to contours?
My guess is he wanted to be consistent with the lesson’s theme of simplification. I used some combination of the two for one of my attempts before watching the demo and out of habit I went into too many details.
