First Pear, I would like to give you a little context of me, My name is Mangesh and I am 23 from Maharashtra, India. I am a final year student of Fine Arts in Painting from the Government College of Art and Design, Nagpur which is a 4 year degree program. The reason I am joining the Drawing Basics course is that the Graduation program I am in is very poorly designed and primarily focuses on abstract painting which they call creative painting. The problem with that is that the majority of the class consists of students like me who lack even the basic drawing skills, fundamentals and know hardly anything about colors and materials and are expected to create their own forms and style right from the beginning. Although the theoretical part was very helpful and gave great insight into Indian and western art and art philosophy the practical curriculum was non existent and had no structure. Long story short I have already wasted 3 years of my life and will be graduated in 2 semesters but have no skills to show for it and this is my attempt at achieving what I expected to achieve from this degree. Also I prepared for my entrance exam for this degree watching proko and am following him before this website (Proko 2.0) existed and I really appreciate the work he and his team is doing for the betterment of art in this Digital Age. Thank you!
