I love gesture drawing and Mike's way of teaching it! I've been studying with him for about a year now and finally starting to loosening up and let go of drawing line, form, and shape all at once but instead let one lead to another organically. Which surprisingly usually leads to better proportions and an organic fluid understanding of perspective.
For this session I did 25 1-minute poses. It's probably my most successful one from this year regarding proportion and fluidity.

Here is Day 8. While watching Mike’s livestream I decided to 2-minute drawings applying the FORCE method he showcased. This really helped me understand what is really important in gestures. I got the torso, but my limbs were always stiff because I tried to use straight lines in the general direction. Focusing on the fluid movements made these gestures look a lot more expressive in much less time.
I love these! Yeah I've been learning from Mike's basics for about a year now and finally starting to understand the value in seeing and drawing the forces of the torso which will help define the shape and then the direction and length of the limbs and location as well as where the apex of the lines hit around the figure... I'm finally starting to see how skating the figure while using this to do quick measurements leads to more accuracy (kinda surprising to know I didn't take a ruler or sighting tool out). :)
