Alrighty... here's my sketch. I think what I like about it is the proportions, but I may have added an extra value or two by accident. I drew this pretty small in the top 1/4 of my sketchbook. I do like it, but the lips and the forehead were hard to figure out the values for. Also his left eye was mostly in shadow so I had to decide to follow the shading value rule or to show the anatomy... and the shirt wrinkles were tough too.

Here are two versions. After I did the first, I realized that all the values of the lemon should be lighter than the leaf. So I redid it and I think it reads better. To make it even better, I can make the leaf's shadow lighter, as well as use a wider range of pencil densities. For this I only used 2B, which caused me to press pretty hard into the paper.

I can't seem to download any reference images. Can someone help me? I bought a few courses a while back... not sure why I can't figure it out.

2022/4/14. Good morning everybody. Here’s my 30 minutes warming up exercise. I made the lateral plane of the torso too narrow. Thanks.

You captured the gist of the shadows very well. great pose choice! quite dynamic. I love the contour lines on the leg.

It looks good. Keep in mind that detail draws the eye, so it may be a good idea to use broader or more general brush strokes in the areas that are not the focal point. For example, your brush strokes really shine around the eyes and ears, but may be slightly distracting on the neck? Regardless, this is a beautiful portrait and one that anyone could proudly hang on their wall.
