Asked for help
Hello, my name is Andrew! I've recently graduated from art school and I want to get into editorial illustration. I use a lot of surreal and conceptual imagery in my art, which I think makes me a good fit for that industry. I'm wondering what my strongest pieces are, and if there is anything that I should take out. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Hey, editorial Art Director here!
All of the works you included here are fantastic. The only one I'd say isn't as strong as the others is maybe the family illustration, but only because there isn't a clear metaphor being expressed as there is with your other pieces.
You have a superb sense of design and visual metaphor. On a technical side, color/contrast could be pushed a bit more in some of your pieces, to make them more dynamic and clarify certain elements. (ie: the large police looking through the alley is the same value as the building, which makes it missable. The design and clarity of the checks in the Stimulus Checks piece could afford to stand out more against the value/hues of the sky) The goal would be to keep a piece cohesive but not muddy, so pushing your values a bit more could help.
I definitely anticipate you will find editorial work. (I'd put you on our shortlist if we were currently hiring) Kudos!
