Hello! here is my submission for the Proko Challenge (: for a year I've been struggling to draw consistently because of the pain on my hand , and it greatly affects my income and mental state while drawing as I cant focus on the piece, at first I wanted to make a more serious poster but that doesn't really sit well , as I like drawing wacky stuffs more, hence the cheesy B-movie themed poster. had fun making this one as it not only let me explore stuffs I wouldn't normally go to in art , it also helped me look at my life as of now , went on an emotional ride while thumbnailing and choosing themes for the poster i wanted lol i hope you enjoy the picture and goodluck to everyone joining in on the fun!

Oh my god the technical skill on everything about this piece is amazing! I love the idea for it too. Very goofy :). I hope your wrist gets better so you can keep on making beauties like these.

My submission for Proko challenge, it was made with blender and photoshop, here the WIP: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3dGxlo The concept is the "shift" that happened when my girlfriend entered my life. She helped with my social anxiety represented here by the dark side of the city. Also the city and the bench are used to allude my profession, architecture, which is also a big part of my life. The movie would be something like a slice-of-life/thriller.

Finally done with this! Here is my horror movie about how........ really uninteresting my life is. There's nothing else to say. I haven't lived enough LIFE to have a cool story like everyone else here so here you go. Didn't expect it to go in this direction but I just went with it lol. I'm proud of how it looks though :). I added a splash of easter eggs and references to some of the artists from the Proko and other artists. Have fun finding them!

It might be your own perception that you think something is off, but the likeness is spot on and the shadows of the face look well valued. The only thing I can think of is the coat is not as rendered as the photo, and also the photo has a dark gradient of the left edge.

First of all, I have to say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that first one. The clean and consistent light and shadow shapes, the interesting and strange merging of the positive and negative space, and the limited palette is all AHH, so beautiful. Reminds me of some cool comic book art. You have a good foundation of anatomy and draftsmanship, as seen from all your works of people and that last artwork. The only thing I can really see a problem in is the second artwork, (the portrait). It feels like the atmosphere you were trying to portray got very close but didn't fully get there because of the colour choice and lighting. The lighting seems to be right in front of the characters face while also casting a long(ish) shadow on the character's neck. Judging from the background, I assume you were going for a sunset atmosphere. One thing to note about sunsets is that the sun is very close to the horizon and casts intense yellowy-orange light and very dark purply and sometimes shadows. So the skin colour in light should be more of a yellow-orange instead of a pale yellow-white colour. Don't forget about the subsurface scattering on the skin, it adds life and believability to the skin. (example) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/50/Skin_Subsurface_Scattering.jpg/800px-Skin_Subsurface_Scattering.jpg There are a lot of videos and resources about subsurface so check those out if you're interested. For the background, just look at some references of sunset skies and clouds. Remember that sunsets can look vastly different depending on the feeling you want or the time. Sunset cast shadows tend to become very soft as it goes farther away from the object that casted it. So play around with that too! (example) Overall amazing pieces, keep up the great work

I wanted to comment on this post for a while now, I don't know why I didn't from the start lol. I wish you luck keeping this art diary every single day! Take care of yourself and don't overwork yourself! Reach for the stars! :D. I did want to say that you shouldn't pressure yourself to finish an artwork quickly or at a set limit (unless it's a study or gesture drawing of course) since most times it comes at the cost of the quality of the artwork and how much you learn from something. Take your time and have fun whilst you're at it and do things you love and find a good balance between learning and personal projects because the latter is very important as well.

I think it depends on what you want to do, if you're doing this study for accuracy and for a clean result, and using a perspective grid makes it easier for you, go ahead! If you want to learn how to break down subjects into basic forms intuitively, practicing drawing basic forms and shapes is a great start. Then, you can try doing a simple study first using a perspective grid and then try it without, intuitively drawing the forms.

Heya! Your works are downright gorgeous! Your control of colour, value, and composition is spectacular. I'm a sucker for a blue-green- orange colour pallete in artworks and that 3rd artwork is just simply *chef's kiss* Excited to connect with you too! ✨

I simply love these. I love the blue eye especially since it has that vertical hatching effect more visible immediately. I would love to see this style used in your pieces :D!

Hi Zenith :) These are great, the pencil sketches are my favourite I love seeing your line work! And the balmy color scheme in the cloudy landscape is beautiful. The last one of the tree in the sky - is that by any chance a Minecraft skyblock reference :)??

I like how you use colours! I never really push my colour range out to high saturation because I'm afraid the image isn't going to talk across the area. but you did it kinda nicely... I like those colours

Great stuff and great advice! I really like the combo of your colors with your brush work. I think that apple is my favorite. A few of your other pieces and a couple of these kinda remind me of some of Marco Bucci’s stuff. Not sure if you’re familiar with his YouTube channel, but if not you should definitely give it a look, especially his videos about colors in paintings. Keep up the good work and keep posting!

Oh wow, I'm flattered! I love Marco! He was an early inspiration when I was first learning about colour. I'm happy that there's a trace of his influence in my art.

Here's a bunch of drawings and paintings I do to boost my mood or I do just for fun. I really recommend doing them, they are really relaxing. Just take out your pencil, pen, stylus, etc., and do what YOU want.

Hi Jedidiah. I actually don't really see an issue with the pose that isn't minor, to me the issue is that the mid-ground matches the foregound too closely in saturation and contrast and therefore isn't receding as it should, making the figure appear to be leaning forward too much. I've done a quick (terrible...) hash up of what I mean, though desaturating the background would probably work better.

Ooo! Excellent piece. The rendering on the face and hat is very well done. The atmosphere is good, the colours are very clean! The only problems I see are very minor things. For example, in this piece is how undefined the clothing looks at the bottom compared to the whole piece. It only slightly detracts from it though and it's not anything to worry about. The other thing I noticed is that the hat above is quite bright in the shadow area compared to the rest of the elements in the shadow. Unless that was done intentionally, or you were painting from a reference image, pushing the shadows a bit further would give the piece a bit more cohesion and the focal point (the face will pop out more). Some things I'd like to see (this is not a critique, just my recommendations) would be a bit more variety in the edges. You can try to lose the edge around the right shadow area of the hat to give it more interest. Maybe even in the areas of the face in the shadow As you can see only a few things changed nothing much!
