Hello, In this post I am seeking two pieces of advice. Any critique for the quick sketches focusing on breasts is greatly appreciated. I have included two versions of five different poses from the unit. The first is my attempt prior to the video. The second is my attempt while following Stan. Secondly, I am wondering what the best process is for taking photos or scans of my drawings. I find my charcoal drawings are often too faint, so I cannot use a black&white option on a scanner. I also know Stan often discourages poor lighting but anytime I am taking a photo I struggle with a shadow of my hand or the camera. How do you share your traditional drawings and sketches cleanly on a digital platform? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks, Vince

Hello everyone! Here are some of my gesture studies. I think these are all hour long sessions, starting at only a few seconds per pose and then ending with ten minutes or so. I do a lot of traditional figure drawing with pencil and charcoal as well, but the digital ones are easier to upload.

Wow, Daniel. I love how accurate and exaggerated your gesture drawings are. How long have you been drawing gesture? I ask because I recently started and want to know how your gesture has improved over time.

Hey everyone. here are my robo beans attempt. I think my biggest weakness is that im too scared to exaggerate my drawings and im very weak when it comes to the twist. (Also if you spot any weaknesses i may have that i didn't mention please mention them in your reply! thanks) Feedback/Tips will be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi @fooze , I find many of my gestural drawings are stiff and need exaggeration too. One thing Stan suggested in the figure drawing course was to redraw any stiff poses beside your first drawing. Keeping the same pose in mind, start with the gesture line and exaggerate the C-curves and S-curves. I imagine this would work well for the bean and robo bean too. Good luck and have fun. Vince

Hello, I am seeking critique for my pelvis drawings. My first image is the pelvis drawn from memory without reference. The second is the simplified pelvis using the 3D model references. Thanks, Vince

Hi @Zuzu Soltys, Fantastic drawings of the spine. I really like the gesture and curves of the different sections. I am working on exaggerating the gesture in mine as I find mine to be a little stiff. I noticed something in Stan’s critique video that would be helpful for your accuracy. The lumbar region does not end at the top of the pelvic bucket. It goes 1/3 into the pelvic cylinder. You can see this in his critique video (the lat video in the spine section). Keep drawing and have fun. Vince

Hi, I am including the photos of Skelly drawings for the spine. I appreciate any feedback. You’ll notice some are more stiff and have inaccurate proportions (small rib cages). I took Stan’s advice and tried to improve the gesture by making some of them more dynamic and fixing the proportions.

Hello, I’m attaching my final figure drawing below. Firstly, I would love any feedback anyone can provide. Also, I recently switched to charcoal pencils a few lessons ago. I have always used graphite pencils when drawing and find the charcoal pencils very difficult to erase. Is this normal or is this due to the type of charcoal I’m using? The erasing and picking out highlights looks so effortless in Stan’s tutorials. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you, Vince

Not much backstory. I just wanted to draw a pompous a-hole of a demon. This one in particular is a loud mouth who shows his true colors once he loses. Plus some preliminary sketches that are way cooler than the final result as usual

Great job. The preliminaries remind me of Scott’s process. Have you taken his Monster Lab course?

Demon Prince Akuma: He once used to be a good and honest human being. Somehow he got caught up in the rituals of a religious cult. The Demon King, Summoned by this ritual, saw an opportunity to corrupt a pure soul. He infused a slice of his powers with the boy's soul and thus was born the Demon Prince. Akuma now wanders in search of the consuming the same fear he felt on witnessing the demon king

Well done. This reminds me of Scott’s shape carving. I wonder what he will say about this. Have you taken his Monster Lab course?

Hi, all! "Eduardo Sanchez is a electrical engineer who wants to help his dad's Mexican restaurant that was on the brink of closing down. Inspired by light shows and fireworks, he designed a device called THE CAP (Technology for Energy Constructs and Assisting People) capable of creating hard-light constructs. Eduardo decided to be a part-time mascot for the restaurant, called El Taco and used the technology for entertainment. While servicing customers, a violent heist broke loose at a bank nearby and the mascot sprung into action. He managed to stop them with his food-themed constructs and became an overnight sensation while also helping his dad's business. Staying on brand, he modified the appearance of his mascot suit and THE CAP, fighting crime with Cayenne Cleavers, Jalapeno Poppers and Nacho Shield among his other proyecciónes picantes!" Different elements of the design is inspired from... well, a taco, especially with the sweater design. May I also present his bacon poncho with shredded cheese tassels and his guacamole hairstyle. Also, THE CAP is now an on-brand flying sombrero. Sorry if my story was too extra. This is my first time entering a Proko Challenge and I'm fairly new to digital art. Any feedback is appreciated, thank you!

The story was not too extra at all. I love the incorporation of Mexican food. The Nacho shield and Cayenne cleaver are outstanding. Awesome work!

Introducing Lumbago Man! His enemies have fallen, and they can’t get up. Lumbago man is a vigilante superhero fighting to bring justice to criminals. His biggest foe is his chronic lower back pain. For years he has been unsuccessful in his search for a treatment. He has seen several specialists that were unable to help him. Lumbago Man is equipped with two canes and a bottle of anti-inflammatories. His weaknesses are bending over to pick up objects and violent sneezes. This hero’s untimely back spasms often confuse perpetrators enough to buy the authorities time to arrive and apprehend the criminals.  Lumbago Man: He brings the Pain!

Hello, I am seeking criticism on my two-minute gesture drawings. Any feedback is appreciated. Please find an image of gestures attached below. I couldn’t help but think of the dynamic poses of athletes at the Olympics as I watched my lessons in gesture last week. My secondary goal was to be able to draw gestures of different sports so the viewer can identify the sport without any items or equipment. Thanks in advance, Vince

Art supplies give us superpowers in a way. At least half of my life revolves around fountain pens these days, so it's an excellent opportunity for me to thank them for all the little sketches and massive projects. For those unaware, Pilot is a Japanese pen manufacturer, and they used to have a pen called Namiki Falcon (currently rebranded as just Pilot Falcon). So my superhero is a lady warrior named Namiki, and she's a pilot of an F-16 Falcon (makes sense, right). I incorporated the details of the pen into her garments, like the nib shape on the helmet, feed fins on the arms and legs, trim on the belt, etc. Overall I think fountain pens fit into the whole airforce aesthetic, but there had to be a sprinkle of samurai vibes as well. So not only is she a master of katana, she also creates a smoke screen with her cigarette, and flies her aircraft through it while the enemies can't see her.

So cool. It's amazing what you can do with a pen. Did you use the Pilot Falcon exclusively?
