Guys, if you get tired of Mario's Mushrooms, here's another suggestion: Hollow Knight! All its characters are pretty ellipsed.

Love this! Super Mario Galaxy is one of my favorite games ever (only Zelda: Breath Of The Wild tops it in my Switch), and drawing Mario's mushrooms is way too much fun! Going to put Galaxy's OST playing in the background and let's-A GO!
Such an amazing video! Loved it, I'll be re-watching it several times, if time allows it, and redrawing my stuff. Now here's hoping Stan doesn't review my Lv. 2, because it's trash
My peartrait is #28, and yes, I did had some training in perspective. There was this really awesome amazing course from some Proko guy, teaching Figure Drawing, and I learned a lot from him :D
Just the thumbnails explanation is so much better than any of the crap I “learned” at art school! I’ll try to redo mu drawings with thumbnails first

I struggled to understand if I should upload this or not, because it’s so far off from everyone else’s! I tried to go for the uber simplification, planes + one value, and not sure if it corresponds to what Stan wants or not.

Not submitting for critique because I made a tremendous error with this one, where my mind got stuck in a “perfection level” where I was too afraid to fail, and with that, unable to progress. And clearly, not simplifying anything. Still like the result, though

Finished level 1 and 2 simplification from observation, I would love critique on the value structure and how to improve organizing them

Not sure how that happened, but your Level 2 is much cooler than your Level 1. I think that’s the best portrait here!

I think I went in on the detail waaaaaaaaayyyy too early. Need to SIMPLIFY shadow shapes much more. Was a good exercise learning to stick with just using five (four) values. Had fun.

On one hand, you went waaayyyy too far in your details! On the other hand, your pencil work is amazing, those are some really cool shadows!

Struggling with the level 2, so tried to go for the uber simplification, just the shape and one shading. No graduation, no highlights. Will have to give it other tries

Tried the Level 2 portrait, so difficult!

So I went for something a little more developed, the first pear way more geometrical than the second. I like the first one way more, really 😊

Half fruit is surprinsingly difficult! Something is definitely off

The pear. I know my mind is attaching itself to Proko’s work, so I’ll have to give it a go with another fruit. Values are something I never worked with.

Level zero skill level person here. I’m amused by my brain’s immediate reaction to this assignment…Run away! :-)

I’ll try to simplify to the bare minimum, and work from there. A bare minimum being a circle with a cilinder on top.

”This is how beginners hide their mistakes”! This is so true it hurts! 😄 How much time do we have until to request critiques? One week, two days? Unfortunately, die to work, family, etc., I may not get free time right away

Question to the community: do you consider the Shakespeare joke 2B or not 2B the funniest ever? 😜

I just found this (site/videos/whole thing) today, and joined today too! I am so excited to try this course! I was curious if Stan / Proko had considered making the lesson notes a pdf that we could download...? Not a need, just a thought.

It’s already available, when you’re watching a video there’s always three tabs, Comments / Lesson Notes / Downloads, go to downloads to get the notes as TxT file

Hello! I am currently interested in the Drawing Basics course, and I want to know how many lessons there will be in total, and how long? I just want to know overall if it's what I'm looking for per the price! Thanks

Around one lesson per week, for eighteen months, and critiques included. I already did Proko’s Figure Drawing, and compared to some others courses available on the Net (quality + pricing), his are the best
