I like it!!!!!

Real fun, definitely got some other ideas from this that I'll have to explore later. I instantly got an ominous imposing vibe from the sculpture so that's where I went, trying to incorporate the antennae and forms of the grasshopper. The fig I feel like really draws out the elder horror feel. The statue was for scale, showing what maybe happened to someone unfortunate enough to stumble on this unknowable being. Maybe I could have tried steering further from the reference? See some cool ideas here, would love to hear what ya'll think.

Very Lovecraftian :D

A mild mannered superhuman spends his days flying and fighting crime just like any other. That is, until a cry rings out for to help with a spread sheet, an engineering solution, some troublesome drafting tools. Then he dons the shirt and glasses of his heroic alter-ego: Pocket Protector!

Nice style. Thumbs up! :)

Here is my assignment for the second step of developing characters. I decided to focus on the Bee Hive idea that I had initially as I really liked the square shape of the hive. I developed the idea thinking about how each character could link together in a common theme and decided to go with the idea that the leader is someone who can manipulate bees to do her bidding. What results is "Hive Golems"! We first have Queen B who manipulates the bees who is carried by little bee hive minions. Then we have the Crawler who moves around on his hands. Then we have the Guardian which is the muscle and finally, the Tower who is simply a huge tree that also carries with it, a bunch of beehives from it's branches/hair.

Really like your shapes and gestures! You’ve got some really cool diversity of body types, maybe posing them in different ways will help suggest different actions and roles for them? The skinny Tree hive one is pretty pointy which lends to a stab by striker pose, Or you could lean into a cowboy hat side and make it shoot bees?
@briony
feedback appreciated, my first time doing something like this. Bob Ross turning into a squirrel :)
Nicholas Geier
Great work! Captures the captures the squirrel tail fro perfectly!

My take on the Squirrely Bobiatic Rossimorph. Stretching a little with the “influencer” part, but he did reach a great many people, and still brings the Joy to folks today. Some really great submissions out there, hope this entertaining to someone!

I ended up trying to push the Honeycomb Golem, Mind Hive, and Buzz Saw concepts, with a couple versions of each. I could probably try pushing these further, doing a few more iterations (for the mindhive ones especially).

3-2 is great! It makes me hear the buzzing!

These are pretty cool Nicholas. 1-1, 2-2, 3-1, and 3-2, are all very strong clear ideas. This is not a big deal but if I were you I'd attempt to keep you naming convention on your sheets a little simpler. The "1-1" "2-3" thing feels a little unnecessarily complicated. I'd recommend going with something standard like alphabetical, or numerical listing. Or just giving each variant a distinct name. The idea is for people to be able to point out your designs in a meeting and discuss them easily. Again, very nice work Nicholas.

Hi everyone! I have returned to drawing recently and I have started digital drawing recently. I am still trying to get used to the tablet and the digital aspect of it, so I thought this exercise would be the perfect start! Starting from the Concept of Cacti, then arrived at Cacti Killer as I did some doodles and then landed on the concept of Cacti Kaiju, since in June there is this challenge to draw one Kaiju monster for every day of the month (Kaijune). I feel like I stayed too safe by keeping close to the shape of sea creatures and cacti in general and not going big enough!
Nicholas Geier
I like how you kept the cactus shape language through most of your sea creature designs. It especially reads well with the crab/scorpion in the top left. There's plenty you can play with just those 2 concepts even (So many crazy species of each too). Substituting spines for tentacles and vice versa, flat cacti flippers, etc. could be another avenue of exploration. Super cool, I'm eager to see where you take it next!
Nicholas Geier
My initial ideation for a “Bee Kreeper” concept. Started out more as Hive golem/protector but branched out pretty far to other bee creatures like mind hives and buzz saws. Without realizing, I found myself drawing bigger for some, structuring the page seemed to help though.
Scott Flanders
These are pretty rad. Very clever! I really like that names as well. Nice work Nicholas.
