Hello! here is my submission for the Proko Challenge (:
for a year I've been struggling to draw consistently because of the pain on my hand , and it greatly affects my income and mental state while drawing as I cant focus on the piece, at first I wanted to make a more serious poster but that doesn't really sit well , as I like drawing wacky stuffs more, hence the cheesy B-movie themed poster.
had fun making this one as it not only let me explore stuffs I wouldn't normally go to in art , it also helped me look at my life as of now , went on an emotional ride while thumbnailing and choosing themes for the poster i wanted lol

Title: The Tree
Genre: Fantasy/Horror
The tree is built entirely out of objects that represent a part of my life (the musical notes are those of a famous song - for those who can read music, it's not that difficult to figure out :). Ones and zeroes (my IT background, binary), weights around my shoulders + chain links (depression), books (love of learning), a large paintbrush (art of course), etc. The snake eating the basketball represents a back injury that destroyed my ability to play. Always striving towards, grounded in, and animated by the light, which represents truth, God, higher ideals, etc. The tree branches/fingers represent the avenues I'm pursuing as the outgrowth of all the experiences that have built my life to this point. It's difficult to say where each will end up. There are a few other smaller things thrown in as well (dead bird, a skull, and a mask), each of which represents different things/events :)

I am in love with the classic painted Hollywood movie poster aesthetic, especially horror ones. It's amazing how busy, bright and colourful they were compared to their modern counterparts! So, I've decided to take every artist's nightmare and the story of my life essentially, and turn it into a classic scary flick. Enjoy! I'm sure you all can relate ;P

Do you have any preferred methods for finding online remote work as an illustrator? I occasionally use Upwork and Fiverr, etc, but are there any job postings sites or forums that are specifically designed for freelance illustration clients and vendors?

The tree trunk on the right conflicts with the right character (doesn't immediately read well), and the middle character's foot is blocked by the foreground character. That's what jumps out...and the partially blocked grill is problematic. I'd try bringing the foreground character closer, push him a bit left as well. That will clear a little space. Always fun decisions to make :)
