Asked for help
Hi guys! I'm a traditional and digital artist from Mexico. I've been saving up to get the anatomy course. Do you think I Should save up to get the full course or buy one at a time? Please share your experiences.

Asked for help
Didn't have a chance to work on the last Challenge, but at least I made a sketch of the reference. Need help with the reflections on top of the bug at the back where the wings come out. I didn't quite get it to look natural. Any advice!

I'm not that great at composition but I'm glad you're gonna paint it traditionally. I think it's great you're experimenting with your rposses. Hope you have fun painting.

Really like it already!:)! As for the section where the light shines through the fabric there; you could maybe experiment with making it a little softer? Maybe it is a little to uniform and the light is coming through a little too strong? Hard to imagine what's its structure would be not knowing where the body ends so you could do whatever's more visually pleasing in my opinion:) Maybe have a little light shine on it to unify it a little more? I did a little paint over of how I would approach it, maybe will give you some ideas!:) Wanna see the oil paintings when they're finished!

Hi guys. Working digitally on this concept for a series of paintings. The final pieces will be in oil. I'll be posting them for you to give me some feedback. It's not a finished piece but a study. I have doubts about the back of the fabric where the light hits it from behind. .

This is my first final work in a long while, maybe 18 months. So happy to eventually have worked out something that's not just an exercise. It's an application of triangular composition to a symbolic subject. Dip pen, manga nibs, indian ink on bristol paper. I'm experiencing some issues with the ink I'm using (Encre de Chine - by Herbin). Not dark as I'd like and it dries too fast on the nib. I tried Sennelier too but it gives a glossy effect if the layer is too thick. I want it matt. Any suggestions about brands I could try ? Thought about something from manga world ?:)

These are beautiful Irvin! I really feel like you caught the essence of them. Feedback wise, I fee like maybe if you softened some of the transitions to help get a bit more variety. A little trick I use to get a sense of life, or give my portrait like there's a warmth to them, is I'll use a Alizarin Crimson, or a similar appropriate, warm value, in the corners of the mouth, along the nostrils, and in the corners of the eyes.

Yeah, you're right. I've seen many paintings where that's applied. Thanks for the help Jessica.

Hey Irvin, Nice painting, I like the emotion. I did a draw over to show you some of the things you could do to help the drawing. I think the pose looks kind of odd, I think that his arms should come out toward the camera for a stronger, more powerful pose. Also his head feels pushed down into the torso too much. I also agree with Jan's idea of messing up the hair to give it more drama. I hope my draw over is helpful :)

Wow, you really took the time to do that! Thanks a lot. This was just an experiment but your comments were right on point. Everything you're saying is right. , it really helped specially cause with your quick sketch, helped me seeing the problems I have in my painting. You went the extra mile. Thanks again!

Hi Irvin Looks good. you sure captured the body type right. The pointing finger of his left hand seems a little off maybe. Don't really know the connan story but wouldn't it make sense for his hair to be more messy too? Idk really.

Wow it’s great, and it looks like an oil painting already. It took me a while to find minor “faults” in it because it’s so well done. If I have to nick pick, his jaw lacks thickness for some reason. It might have to do with the hard shadow edge on his right jaw corner? But you really captured his easy going attitude!
