Hey Michael, I love these helmets, it's great that you are drawing it. @Moonless_Sky gave an accurate critique of the proportions of your drawing, and your self critique was also pretty correct. What I noticed is that it wasn't just the contrast in your values, but that you are not observing what the light is doing accurately. Notice how all the value in the upper part is all the same? This is not the case in the reference. That part of the helmet is blocking the light and is therefore darker in value. Also, if your going to work on toned paper, you will need to use a white chalk to show highlights. If you don't it makes your drawing look flat. I did a quick paint over to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)

Thanks allot, it really helps, I see the differences you describe now more clearly. Its sketching paper but the lighting was a bit dark when I took the picture.

Hi Michael, looks great! I do think you could push the dark and light parts a lot more. The light on the "forehead" and the lower edge are not that clear on the drawing. The "jaw" of the helmet is a little bit too long. I drew it in the Reference for you, to illustrate the distances. Love the detail and how clean you drew it :) Great drawing! Keet up the good work :)

Thank you for your feedback. I will apply this feedback to my next drawing, taking more time and care with my construction lines. What do you mean by "how clean I drew it"?
Michael de Graaf
The upper part I found the most challenging and most time consuming, here are some points I think I can improve on myself: - The basic shape of the helmet like the forehead and top part. - More contrast between the light and dark.

Hey Michael, I really like your drawing, it has a lot of personality. A couple of nit picky things I would say you could work on has to do with the expression. I did a quick sketch to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)
Michael de Graaf
@Steve Lenze , what do you mean by "it has a lot of personality"?

Hallo @Michael de Graaf , goed om hier een andere Nederlander te zien :) I like the drawing and I think @Steve Lenze already gave great feedback, what i would like to add is that you could work on your values. For example the shadow underneath the beak could be a lot darker and the body is almost black. Darken these values will make your drawing look more 3d and dramatic.

Haha kijk aan, leuk. Hoe gaat het met je reboot in art learning? Ik zit sinds een paar weken in hetzelfde bootje, voel mijn passie voor tekenen terugkeren, heerlijk. Thanks allot for you feedback.
