Nice! You would want to work with drawing what you see and not what you think the vase looks like.
Try drawing the ellipses as contruction lines, there are 3 in the vase, and the top one is the slimmest since your eyes are above it.

My two pears. The first one before watching Stan's demo, the second one after.
Not very happy with the first one, witch in find too stiff, with boring shapes , not enough contrast. Shadows don't really make feal the volume.
After watching Stan's demo, I put more attention on shape design (less on accuracy), contrast, proportion of dark accents in the form shadow and on the background. It looks better to me but I think there is still a problem in the low part of the form shadow, which is weird.

Might have taken the "only straight lines" a bit to much into some sort of cubism ^^
