Hi all! I am an older person - stay at home mom homeschooling my children - who wants to learn to draw for the joy of drawing. The more I listen to The Draftsmen podcast the more I realize Proko is geared toward someone who wants to be a professional artist. I'm wondering then if this is really the place for me. I'm wondering if the Drawing Fundamentals course is also too focused on that to where it doesn't fit my situation. I am also starting to feel like I shouldn't draw at all until I have learned more and can do it well but I guess drawing poorly for a long time has to precede drawing at all proficiently. Any thoughts for me? I appreciate any insight!

Not sure if it helps but I'm also an older person, without that much of an art background except some doodling and kid drawings many decades ago. I have also been following Proko and realise that there is a heavy emphasis on fine art and proper art techniques and a certain school of thought and philosophy and approach to art in general. Because of that, I also had the same thoughts as you, whether this is something for me, whether it'll be too much to take on, whether it'll all work towards something that I'll like. And like you, I wondered many, many times if I should even bother with art and drawing or am I just too old. In the end, I decided to give this a try because (a) I wanted to be able to draw well, at least well enough for myself to feel proud of my efforts, so it made sense to me to learn it in some proper way, and (b) if it isn't really for me in the end, I'll just move on and be satisfied that I gave it a try. The latter is, I think, the advantage of those of us who are older, who've had a life and career before art, which gives us enough of a space to try things.

Any idea how long or how many lessons there will be for the course? Just bought it. So looking forward to starting this. NY resolution already started! Haha
