How do you layer and mix watercolor? I tried it for the first time on May the 4th for Star Wars day and I had to stop half way through because I was having trouble mixing on my pallet plus applying the right color onto the paper without soaking it to much. It kinda felt like my pallet wasn't great for watercolor mixing.
Leonardo DiVinci because not only was he an artists I hear he was a bit of a jack-of-all trades like me so I'd probably learn a lot.
Not sure if I did these right but I'll say the snowy forest one is my fav. I used the Sketchbook app and my inspiration came from google searches "snowy landscape" and "strange landscape".

Feel like I didn't go simple enough on this. I was using the Sophie character from "Howl's moving Castle" for reference just to try it out on my own first before moving on. I defently need some practice for sure.

For prompt "Potions" but also includes Inktober's "Fan", and StreamINK2020's "Glow". I had fun with this one and in trying color for the first time.

Sacrifices for art3yr
Has anyone ever had to make some sacrifices for their art? I have several projects going on (writing a novel, drawing illustrations for novel, learning about art for novel illustrations, inktober, and 3 different illustration contests) for the next few weeks. I was drawing some tree concepts for one of the contests pieces when I realized that I just can't finish all 3 pieces for this same contest. I decided to forfeit this contest but use the same pieces for one of the other 2 contests. I guess what I'm asking is if it's normal to feel guilty about giving up something like this? I've had to do it several times for writing but not for art yet. The benefit I get is a whole extra week (not including this week) to work on the 3 pieces for the next contest but still feels weird to me because the one I'm giving up is something I only have one shot for and might not be able to do next year.
My submission with chosen references! I'm a bit of a beginner in art with experience drawing in pencil so ink was a welcome challenge. My shading could be better but in an odd way, I do like what I've done here even with the limited colors I had. I'll just say that this piece did accidentally get named Badminton Birdie. The moment I saw the flower and the bird, I had the idea of creating this flower bird but didn't know how to fit the control panel and wires in so what I did came a little later and developed an interesting story I feel (at least for me). This was really fun!

I'm defiantly playing that "I'll show them" game. My parents aren't supportive in my art and writing and while they aren't trying to get me to quit, the environment I'm surrounded by isn't the best.

This was worth 5 stars! Also adding since I made it to the end of the video and want to answer the question/prompt at the end. I haven't overcome the environment yet but I'm in the process of building my own imprint for self-publishing novels and many of my stories will have art (plus I'm planning to do my own covers) so I'm building something that will delve into both writing and art. Hopefully, I'll have this started in a couple of months from now.
I'm just starting my studies in ink but I may attempt this just to test my skills!

Art parents. I do enjoy Zdzisław Beksiński style but I'm studying in ink to start out so i've got several ink artists i'm exploring.
I was defiantly multi tasking while listening to this lol! Will be trying to write and draw without music and distractions for a change too!
