Hi!, my name is Cesar and I like draw DTIYS and video games related things. Here is some of my recent artwork :D I started drawing 3 years ago, because I saw the speed paints that riot games published and I found it fascinating what could be achieved, so now this is my journey to try to do something similar :)

I believe it is colorful and fun! What I would suggest thinking on for making a story that has no real story is that all situations have context, even if we do not understand the scope of it fully or know anything about the character's history. When I see elements like orbs, I know magic is present. But begin to ask questions such as: In what way is this orb interacting with this character? Where has the orb come from? Is this the source of his pain? Even if we do not need a fleshed out story, what is presented before us remains a story, whether abstract or representational. What is in the frame is a tool for conveying that emotion. If it does not put towards your intent, toss it out without regret. Seeing the source of his anguish in the frame and really enunciating HOW he is interacting with it is the best forward thinking advice that will apply to all compositions. I love this piece. I am merely confused as to whether his loved one has died or if a witch has cast a spell on her dying breath. Writing out a sentence describing the scene may help. That way you can see the scene without visuals and then refer back to it as things develop. <3

Okay I understand, thanks for the feedback. The contest was about integrating 3 elements, a ghost (of any type), a male character and Magitech (Magic + Technology). I don't have a full story, but while I was drawing, I imagined that maybe someone was attacking a village or city, and this "villain" is using people's souls to channel some apocalyptic spell and the main character has arrived late, unable to save his friends / loved ones / family, see how their souls are being "harvested", and he feels that anger and prepares to attack the villain. At least this is the main plot :P Doing all that story was completely unnecessary for the contest, but I decided to take that extra step to make sense of those 3 elements, that way I practice storytelling and composition.

I made this illustration for a contest. I tried to tell a story, nothing in particular, but to show that the main character is going through a bad time. This is the best I can do so far, but I do not think I will improve if not I receive criticism, so, what do you think? What do you think can be improved? I know that the proportions of the canvas are not the best, but it was what the contest was asking for. You can download the image and paint over it for indications.
