These are challenging and interesting poses. Especially the foreshortening is difficult to get right.
Most poses I started with a rough gesture: ovals for ribcage and pelvis, indications for the limbs and an oval for the head as the last part. Only after that I was confident enough for some rhythms.
Critique welcome!

I enjoyed this topic but need a lot more practice at it. I always wanted to be able to draw animals in action. This is a good start.

Line Master Class Heinrich Kley dancing elephant and David Malan ladies face. I've never worked with cross hatching before and was surprised at the effect. I can see how different types of lines can make such a difference to our drawings. Totally enjoying this course.

Heya everyone! Guess it's time for master studies! Took time to search for reference but went back to the Watts skull since it has a lot of line weight/type variety I could really learn from! Plus I was feeling bad (to the bone) today :)

Tried light and dark and added some coloured graphite pencil to see how it would look. You can't see much difference really just a hint of colour. I haven't really used them before but I had them and thought I'd give them a try.

Hey party people, attached are the drawing exercises for the level 1 trace and level 2 draw from observation. Eager for some feedback :)

I think you did a really good job particularly the 2nd drawing showing light and shade. I had a few issues with mine but really like how you did your rhino.

Tried to make a puppy + nietzche + c.g jung. Didn't make my drawings sketchy enough and spent too much time undoing and redrawing lines and I don't think it was a good use of my time. Dog on the right was the final sketch, but I was too tired of this assignment to add any details to make it more 3D. I'll try to remember the instructions better next time.

Tried to highlight the rhino's mass and horn in the first image. On the second I went really heavy on the shadow side

Oh no, I think I made the outlines too thin! Don't worry though, I'll make them thicker, hee hee! Didn't want to make them thin again on accident, hopefully they're thick enough for now :)

I had a ttry and dark to light lines. Not sure if the dark was thick and dark enough though. Trying to show light and shade without shading is really different.

I think I got a bit carried away with the shading on the second rhino. Not sure if the second Rhino fits the criteria.

Did a portrait exercise... I would love to get critical feedback from someone more experienced on what I need to improve. My drawing feels "off" somehow, but I'm having trouble seeing where the issue is - is it the accuracy of the block in? (I am trying to measure carefully maybe not doing as accurate a job as I need to be) Is it the value? Or the shape design? I'd love some feedback on what to focus on improving. Thank!

Hi Thanks for the reply. I did the Portrait drawing fundamentals which helped me with proportions, but your proportions are ok you just need help with the eye. The course I mentioned also looks at drawing eyes, noses and ears. Have a great day.

Sometimes it can be very tiny things that add up to throwing the drawing off a bit. Her neck needs to be darker in the shadows and her cheekbone isn't shadowed. Overall you have her proportions right her eyes may need adjusting of the pupil. You have done a good job. I that a photo on my mobile then look at it side by side with the original, I find a photo can really help.. Good luck.

Although I'm starting from 0, I tried my hand with the second challenge as well. I may try to make it up for the model in the future when I've improved by drawing him again.
A tip: I've found that it's best to first draw the outline using my lightest pencil (B), then filling out the darkest bits (here: most of the hair and the nose holes, using a 4B in my case), and then moving again from the lightest to the darkest parts. That way, I get a feeling for what the different shades of black are going be as I keep drawing, so I can adjust on the fly.

more CSI practice. I’m really struggling, not sure how to do this without plotting every point and basically doing a connect the dot or else end up with something completely out of proportion. I couldn’t add the picture, the file was too big.

you have clean lines and your CSI is working. Sometimes it is a struggle but don't worry it takes time and practice. You will get there. Just practice as much as you can and it will come. I go over the video's a few time as I don't always get a good result straight first try. I follow the instructions when I get stuck and I need a bit more direction.

Day 6/14
I went WAY out of my comfort zone today and drew a car. I am horrible at drawing vehicles and was hoping I could get some critiques and tips for how to improve. Please don’t hold back, I really want to get better in this area of drawing.
