Here's me final 5. Done using gouache and tears, first two were plein air, the other three were done at home. The reference photos were taken by myself in and around Edinburgh.  This was a really fun challenge, I've never gotten gouache in so many places that aren't a canvas. I found it quite tricky to simplify the structure way whilst still maintaining readability, but I'm glad its something I'm now a bit more cognisant of. Thanks to Tiffanie for hosting this and doing it along with us and to Prokes too! :)

Hi all. First I thank Proko & Tiffanie for giving us this great challenge. I made 5 thumbnails based on my own photography of my county landscapes throughout all seasons. 2x2", acrylics. I had a great time painting those thumbs!

Here's my submission. I loved doing this challenge. It helped me to capture the memories of visiting these beautiful places in these small paintings. All photographs taken by me. All paintings done in gouache.

Hi! It's too cold to paint outside, so I gathered some photos that I took in different regions of my country. This challenge was a blessing because I wanted to get back to paint sketching. All paintings done in thick used watercolor, I dont own gouache yet. Thanks for looking!

These are so nice! Putting all the thumbnails together almost looks like a continuous panaroma of one scene.

Hi there! This is the first time I've ever entered an art competition so a bit nervous to share my work, but here goes! I noticed that the challenge called for storytelling, so I thought this might be a really good opportunity to create a set of works with a consistent colour palette. All of these reference photos are from different days my partner and I went to our favourite beaches. I wanted to try and use colour to capture the joy and inspiration from those places. I loved watching the gouache demo and this challenge really inspired me to get back into gouache, so thank you for posting! I have posted a few process videos on my instagram here https://www.instagram.com/rachelgroveart/ Thank you for checking out my work!

Hello, here are my 5 submissions! As a character artist, this challenge helped me conquer my fear of landscape painting haha. I was able to really push the way I see values, hue shifts, and big masses. Simplifying rocks into simple shapes was pretty challenging and seeing the subtle hue shifts in skies and foliage was tricky as well but I tried my best to apply all of Tiffanie’s tips. I added some imagination on top of some references. In thumbnail #2 for example, I thought it would be nice to “lower” the background trees a bit and make the sky more visible. The software I used is Photoshop. My main tools were selection tools (marquee & lasso), smudge tool, full opacity round brush, as well as a chalky brush for initial blocking and big swooping motions. Reference pictures are all from my home country Morocco. I hope you like my work, thank you! :)

All done using the hard airbrush tool and a custom 2”x2” canvas in Procreate for iPad. I took the reference photos on a hiking trip in Nepal a few years ago, plus one from Delhi. Very fun challenge. Soooo hard to get convincing tone without getting bogged down in tiny details.

First of all, I would like to thank Proco and his team for providing us with this competitive environment. Also thanks to Tiffanie Mang. Thanks to him, I learned to limit myself to small canvases in this challenge. As for the drawings, I divided my canvas into 2" x 2" squares. I tried Tiffanie's suggestion of Infinite Painter as a drawing program, then continued with Procreate. I tried not to be too dependent on the references in terms of color and preferred to use an anti-naturalistic color. I didn't stick to one style. Note: The first reference photo is my mother's youth :) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! I HOPE EVERYONE LEAVES THE CHALLENGE HAPPY AND EXPERIENCED.

Thanks for doing this, I really enjoyed listening to Tiffanie last time she was on and I learned so much so I can't wait to hear some feedback from her and Proko! I can really see the benefit in doing these thumbnails -although I was reluctant when I realised how small they needed to be. Seeing big shapes and comparing values/hues is much easier when you can 'zoom out' in thumbnail mode. This is my first time taking part but I've been following these challenges for a while, glad I can finally take part! Good luck to everyone!

Hey guys! From different points of view I was able to contemplate several submissions here. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the results, regardless of the final result. The process was very pleasant and we took it with us forever. My references came from either pexels or google images. Good luck everyone and I hope we can still learn a lot together! These are my submissions. All are digital and I used photoshop or krita to make them. Thanks to Proko and Tiffanie for the opportunity.

Here is my submission for the gouache challenge. Istead of using a round- or flatbrush, I used only a daggerbrush. I tried to learn colormixing and colorvribration. I loved this kind of practive and is very relaxing. I will continue to make more gouache thumbnails (maybe even try to make 100 ;));
