Wow - a complete scene! It is so difficult to draw all the different vanishing points in such a way that they form one scene. And you did it!

Level 1 assignments and one level 2 - that was difficult and not so successful I think.

Elegant style - I like it! One note: I think that the Greater Trochanter is a little higher up. When I understand Proko correctly it is the indentation of the donut shape.

I underestimated tilt, rotation, foreshortening basically on all three ...

I’m having trouble finding the brush pack that “comes with this class” - see 2:55 in video. Thanks in advance.

I tried to construct my ideal studio space with big windows facing north for nice even light ... and of course an impractical sink that can be used as shower!
I had to correct so much because I didn't plan well ahead. The drawing looks quite dirty with all that erased lines - sorry for that.

I didn't time myself: I wanted to focus on proportions and quality of the line. I used overhand grip with charcoal pencil on newspaper.

These are challenging and interesting poses. Especially the foreshortening is difficult to get right.
Most poses I started with a rough gesture: ovals for ribcage and pelvis, indications for the limbs and an oval for the head as the last part. Only after that I was confident enough for some rhythms.
Critique welcome!

I tried to think of a story or emotion that goos with the photo and push the drawings to tell the story.

Very cool! I like the 4th one most, the one that says: “Stop - don’t go any further!”

This was way more difficult than I thought. And I took much longer than 1 hour for me to do these. In the first drawing the left part of the face is much to wide. In the second drawing the overall proportions of the face is better, but the eyes are too high and the ear is too small. In both drawings the shoulders are too high.
Other thoughts:
I worked on 11 x 16 inch paper while sitting at a table. This format is too big for me to draw at a table - this combinations leads to distortions.
Measuring an object nearby (in my case the tablet standing in front of me) with the pencil did not really worked. I measured in Photoshop.

Two more Heinrich Kley studies. I wish I could find more high res images of Kley’s drawings. To get the subtleties of his cross hatching you rwally need very good references.

I didn't really know how to approach this exercise at first. I always find it difficult to simplify and deviate from the model. But I was very inspired by all your drawings and I gradually found my way. Finally I had fun and I really want to do a lot more!

Looking great! You have found very clear shapes and combined them to expressive characters.

A study of an Acanthus leaf after Tri Le's tutorial (tri.shiba on Instagram). I did a very light trace-over so that I could concentrate on line quality rather than placement.

Some attempts at the buffalo. Like the one with more triangles even though squares feel more “heavy” and “stable”. 🐃
