I was brought to this lesson from Stan's video "Practical Guide to Realistic Shading", and the thought occurred to me after watching both videos: Can the dark halftone be thought of as the form shadows "penumbra"? And if so, can this also be applied to light halftone being the center light's "penumbra"?

Fun. Listening while I cook. I’ll have to submit my egg later.

This is amazing - I'm new to this drawing thing - I've done a couple of Stan's courses and am really pleased to have this new appreciation of the light and shadow puzzle - I always struggle to get things dark enough in the shadow areas but having permission to go from 45% light to 0% light at the edges is really liberating... I'm still not satisfied with my egg though - a few more tries and I'll upload one! Thanks Dorian - I like this format of small scope, deep learning - it feels much more manageable and is less intimidating than trying to take on huge topics all at once. Jo.
