In this demo I paint a quick environment and put characters into the scene to tell a simple story. I'm also answering questions from the Proko community.

Hi, i'm an engineering student with a passion in storytelling and videogames. In the last year I felt on myself what your are saying right now about the time spent: duties, passions, hobbies. This took me to start learning art and I'm studying foundamentals, concept arts and other stuff I need to tell my stories to an audience. Not just studying, I'm also starting my projects. BUT I also have worries: do this dream will let me build a life for me and my girlfriend? We want a family, kids, a stable life. I've never heard anyone talk about family and kids. I don't know if you have children, but if you do or if you know someone who have, Can you/he/she make it work? It really worries me
What did you learn in art school. What was the lesson plan? Did you learn a new topic every month or so? What exercises were you made to do and what do you suggest?
How do you practice drawing. Do you do figure drawing alote or practice by drawing scenes from imagination?
Hello! Quick question regarding perspective if you have read the Scott Robertson's book, as you know Scott Robertson uses complex X Y Z plane drawing to draw a car and it is quite complex, I wanted to ask you have you ever tried the method to actually draw a car in a finish piece, because most professional who read the book just draw a car or a ship by just painting or creating a simple X Y Z plane. Do you think its worth to learn the skill and actually use the method, Because to me it doesn't looks like its the most efficient way to draw vehicles or the best way to draw a car
hello Dom
I wanted to ask you, based on your experience as an artist, what are the things you should avoid when drawing?
Since 3D is being used so much in the Concepting Industry, and its pushed to being 90% of a final image- Is it fair to say drawing is playing a lesser role today?
Hello Dom and Kristian.
I just joined the stream and I have two questions.
The first one is how would you apply lighting to deep underwater scenes since lighting also tells part of the story? Would you be limited to blue and green light hitting your subject or how can you incorporate other hues like pink or yellow?
The second one is what exercises would you recommend to beginners to practice storytelling with there paintings?
Hopefully my questions make sense. I love the stream so far.
Hey Dom! I have your Journey to the East book. Can you talk about the process for that? When did you feel like you were "good enough" to tackle a world building project?
Hey Dom! I’ve been drawing for a long time, but i am having difficulty switching to painting. It seems like a different mindset. Do you have a different thought process when you paint compared to when you draw?
Is interesting to find a artist talking about building your skills to develop your brand instead for finding a job. But I feel having having job in mind helps you focus in developing the skills you need to perform vs a personal brand witch you have to figure out yourself what is it you want and what does your market wants from you.
Hi Dom, Kristian,
Could you talk about how do you go about finding a story to tell? Is it mostly client work or something you came up with?
thanks!
Hello Dom and Kristian.
I was wondering if you Dom can please tell me what is your daily drawing practice. What to focus the most if I would like to design environments?
Thank you ☺
Hey Dom, Kristian.
Do you guys have any tips for someone who has their basis in traditional art but would like to move to digital?
Thanks
Hey Dom!
I just recently did a painting of a structure and I would love to hear some feedback from you on how you would've approached lighting it.
Thank you!
Ps. All your work is really inspiring! :)
Hey Dom, Kristian.
We're seeing a few artists putting up new courses on proko.com. Are there any plans for you to do the same and if there aren't, what would you like to teach?
Best Regards
Hey, do you have any tips on how to paint in a traditional approach digitally? I absolutely love your work!
