Upgrading to a new Intuos. Should I get medium or large?
3yr
@pinkapricorn
I owned an Intuos 3 for 9 years until it died in 2013 and I am currently using an Intuos 4 that I've had since then. The only size I've ever owned is medium. I tried a small once and I couldn't stand it--the tiniest wobble in my hand caused ugly, jerky lines--it but I've never tried large. My intuos 4 only has around 2,000 pressure sensitivity levels and I'm thinking of upgrading it because the new ones have four times as much pressure sensitivity--meaning I can have WAY more variation in my lines much like when I draw with an actual pencil. That's why I'm upgrading. But I'm stuck at the decision of size. I can't decide if I want to get another medium or if I should go large. I have the desk space; that's not the issue, but I'm not sure if I would like the large. The reason I'm considering it is because it seems like I could draw big, gestural strokes from my shoulder. My logic is, if the medium tablet was more forgiving of my hand wobbling then maybe the large would be even more so? Drawing with an actual pencil I can draw quite smooth lines but on my current Intuos (the medium intuos 4) I'm noticeably more wobbly. Maybe on a large tablet my lines would look as nice as they do on paper? So what do you guys think? Go for the large? Or stick with medium?

I ended up getting a Cintiq haha. No regrets. Digital art instantly got 50% more fun because I don't have to spend forever redrawing lines. I can generally get the line I want and move on. I was an Intuos user for 16 years and I never totally got used to it.

@pinkapricorn if price and portability are not factors you need to consider then I would go large. A large screen gives you flexibility and more "room" to create. Depending on how large you're going then you would have an easier time drawing with your shoulder as well.
