Should I Do Art As A Living?

Hey guys, I'm just about to wrap up stuff for high school and plan on going to art school in the future. Art is something I do want to pursue in terms of getting better, and being the best artist I can be. But one thing I am unsure of is if I should/ want to do art as a living. If I were to do it as a living I would most likely go into comic books, character design, or some other form of game art. If anyone in here is in the industry can you tell me what doing art as a living is actually like?

Ultimately, whichever path you decide to take is only what you make it. I myself and getting my footing as a freelance artist and taking commissions here and there, but ultimately I also want to do art as my primary career in the future! I'm an art studies major and I also want to do something relating to games, comics, and animation.
You don't have to know exactly what you want to do, but having a general idea if you're going into school to focus on specific classes and major tracks can be helpful. Find artists that are/were in similar fields that you might want to go into and see the work they're doing. Admitted portfolios for schools you want to go to can also be enlightening and informative.
Also, it's important to have a good understanding of your relationship with art. Art as a hobby can be vastly different to making art for money, having to deal with deadlines, revisions, and clients. Like with any industry, there's ups and downs and it's different for every person.
