*Should I start writing with a very long stories or should I stick to writing stories
I am confused as to should I write long stories as first or short stories and I am an absolute beginner in writing and crafting stories and I really need help in these please help me!!!
Hey Anubhav! I like to think of myself as something of a writer, too. This is a hard question, as it depends on what your ultimate goals are. If you plan on pursuing long-form storytelling, then practicing what you wish to work towards should be your priority. Because as much as long-form stories are more or less stretched-out short stories, there is more nuance to novel-length work that can make it very challenging for a beginner. That, and it's just... a lot of work. A lot. You want to be able to finish what you start, especially as you're getting your feet wet.
Since you're a raw beginner, I'd say start off by doing many shorter stories to get the feel. Study plot structures and character arcs. Single-issue comic-length scripts (7-20 pages) should be your priority. Make them until you can get it snappy and tight. You'll get more practice plotting and developing characters by writing many stories, and the more you do it, the better you'll understand it. Once you get to a point where you can tell interesting, well-developed shorter stories, then try thinking about how you can expand into chapters/issues, pushing it towards novel length or even series length.
Hope this helps. Writing is hard. Good luck!
Start small and work your way up. I personally enjoying writing Saturday Morning Cartoons. Therese a fun book called 'How to Write For Animation' by Jeffery Scott. I'd give that a read if you want to just start with short 20 minute projects.
